Porter looking kind of sharp. We'll see if he actually implement all of that. Doing a whole lot of talking like Mikey..lol.

it looks like they are working on slipping inside spence's jab, off the jab, a lot.
that, to me, looks like they want to get porter to jab with spence one or two times, just to let spence get his jab going a little, and slip inside it before he can get the jab going long enough to add onto it with anything else. they look like they got porter closing distance pretty quick. that is how quick spence's step back will need to be. if it isnt, porter will get on his chest. if it is, he takes that away from porter and keeps him on the end of his jab long enough to start to add to it, and really start to go to work.
but if porter keeps stepping in, closing distance, spence has to keep stepping back to regain that distance. the problem with the step back, is that its a straight line, so if you keep stepping back, you keep stepping back in a straight line until your back hits the ropes or you get put into a corner. if spence can turn porter, he can stay off the ropes and out of corners, and make it look easy.
if spence cant maintain distance, then he cant keep porter off him and will have to fight inside, without the jab. spence throws sharper, harder punches than porter, but the inside fight also gives porter his best chance at winning. thats a weird a trade off. pick who you like. if porter gets inside, spence has to land stuff that will back porter off of him. spence is a bigger puncher but porter takes a good punch. theres another trade off. pick who you like. if spence cant back him off, it will be a long, rough night. if he can, porter will start to box more, stay way out, moving laterally, and force spence to chase and cut off the ring. the fight might have a lot of twists and turns.

Reading ur post I'm thinking, finally someone is kinda saying what I've been telling people...
I'll say this real simple... spence may be a better fighter than porter... and it ain't even by that much.
Porter just fights in a style that isnt pretty.
But I feel like Spence isnt as good as people think.
I didnt know that he started boxing really lm late... but I could tell by how robotic, non-fluid, and mechanical his movements are in the ring.
A person with slickness and real boxing skills (let's say like a Mayweather or gervonte davis types)
Beat porter with ease...
Spence doesn't have those skillsets...
So like you were saying... porter is gonna get in on spence... eliminating any height, reach... and the jab of spence... making him back up in a straight line toward the ropes ..
This is where porter will win the fight.
Unless spence becomes a different fighter very soon... or porter gasses himself backing down spence...
Then I can see this shyt being a dog fight.
Spence might even back down porter, which plays right into porters hands, making it a close fight inside...
Porter is going to get beat down. That’s all there is to it.

How do you reconcile this with Spence’s performance against Mikey?
I use to think Spence was robotic and stiff too but he really showed he could box and use that jab against a “superior” boxer when he trashed Mikey
If Mikey couldn’t get inside and work then is it realistic to expect Porter to be any different?
Also most people think Spence is better on the inside than Porter so how effective will getting in the inside even be
I say all this as someone who wants Porter to whup Spence ass
I just gotta be practical about it and realize that shyt will be a tough task for Porter
I almost think his only chance is to somehow hurt Spence early and change the complexion of the fight

People really need to rewatch that fight, in particular the first half. Mikey tried everything they said Porter should try on Spence and he failed at all of them and it aint cause Spence used his size either. Mikey tried to fight off the jab, and failed. He tried to bait him in and counter him, he failed. He tried to close the distance and fight inside very briefly and failed. Spence defense and ability to adjust on the fly is literally never talked about and it's sad no one actually wants to see it. They always gonna think he is just a pressure fighter.
Porter is bigger than Mikey so I don't think he'll get straight bullied, but if people was so confident he could win they would of bet on it.

I expect spence to be on the back foot from the jump. He already knows how physically strong porter is. Even in interviews you can hear the respect he has for porter's toughness. I think he knows he has to keep porter at arms length. Spence may be more powerful on the inside but I think shawn is faster and more compact. Rewatching the Thurman and brook fights you can see porter is pretty fukkin crafty on the inside. Some of the shyt you don't even see. He really mixes it up and lands shyt from awkward angles.
That's why I think it's vital for spence to keep the fight at a distance. You can't compare this fight with mikey because mikey wasn't even trying to get inside. He made the choice to get boxed the fukk up for 12 rounds rather than go inside and get knocked out. Porter ain't going out like that. He's 100% willing to get knocked out in order to apply his gameplan. That's why I think this is gonna be a great fight. If Spence dominates porter over 12 or even beats him at his own game to a stoppage he'll officially be elite status in my eyes.

Imo tho.... spence ain't got the skillset, craftiness or slickness to fight off the back foot... that takes a high degree of skill...
Spence is more of a come forward, light pressure guy.
That's why I said unless he can learn some new shyt real quick (which he can't).... I dnt see this shyt being easy for him..
Porter is better at making a fight ugly, than spence is at making a fight pretty ( showing off pure boxing skill, fight off back foot)
But at the end...
If Spence still wins, hes still the best of all the new guys... wouldnt say Elite. Cause hes not fighting Elite fighters tho ...

There’s a reason that Manny has been looking at fighting everyone at 147 besides Crawford and Spence. By the 3rd round Porter is going to be afraid to punch. Porter is getting stopped. I honestly feel bad for him cause Spence is going to open up like a muhfukka on him. Porter isn’t a good enough boxer to employ that Adrien Broner/Mikey Garcia lemme survive 12 rounds tactic. If Spence doesn’t stop Porter, I don’t post for a month. If Spence stops Porter you don’t post for a month? Bet?

Yea that's why I said if he dominates porter I'll consider him elite. Cause any true elite fighter should be able to dominate a guy like porter easy. And no guy at 147 has been able to do it yet. These guys go against his awkward style and play it safe instead of really trying to pick him apart. Cause they don't wanna get caught with some shyt. But I feel like spence just has that dog in him. He doesn't just wanna win be victorious, he wants to be special. And this is his opportunity to be that. Not just come in and try to squeak out a victory like the rest of the guys did. He's coming to put on a masterpiece. But I just don't see that happening right now. Like you said. I don't feel he has the tools to shut porter out like that. But we'll see. I feel like both guys are gonna bring out the best in eachother. There's really no outcome that would shock me.
