What I think happened is donaire might have partially popped his eye out of the socket with that left hook which would explain the double vision either that or cracked an orbital.It did didn’t it!

Said the same thing to my friend at the time.
Cheekbone depression, cracked orbital, detached retina etc, something along those lines.
As other poster mentioned, it’s a long layoff. Detached retina is a serious injury, particularly in boxing. 6 months off, surgery, dark rooms, no training etc.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the reason he kept his guard up in front of it so much was a) because he was concerned of further damage b) to give him a visual compass in relation to the double vision. Glove being something to gauge distance, depth perception etc.

In amateurs the fight may have been stopped due to that eye.

Great fukking fight, watched it live at work will rewatch tomorrow but great scrap and Donaire looked huge in their, he had to rehydrate like 12 to 15 lbs

Props to Monster for pushing through till the end and much love and respect for Flash. He's not what he was but he's going to give you everything he had left.
