116-112 Usyk, very good performance, looked way sharper than in his other 2 HW fights too, this guy makes it a sport to prove me wrong lmao.
AJ was always vulnerable but though he’d have better success fighting long and countering a busy opponent than he did. And when it came to press the action he remained hesitant.
Had a nice patch of rounds from 4-8 except the 7th which was a big Usyk round but he started slow and fell apart by the end.
Feel sorry for the guy cause he seems like a genuinely more decent of a person than the likes of Fury or Wilder but he was clearly second best tonight and it’s hard to see how he overcomes the odds if he pursues an immediate rematch. One camp probably won’t be enough. This wasn’t like the Ruiz loss where you can point to one moment where he lost a fight he was controlling beforehand. Today Usyk was just better most of the fight.
Based on tonight Usyk beats Wilder as well and idk about Fury. Fury is trickier than AJ and would probably have more success roughing Usyk up close and keeping him off plus he’s even bigger than AJ so I’d still pick Fury probably but Usyk’s workrate can win him a decision too if Fury can’t discourage him from throwing or preventing him getting inside.
Wilder causes you to be perfect which is impossible unless you are bigger than him and just go for broke (see Fury). Not many people will every be bigger and stronger and faster than Wilder which makes fury so hard to bet againstRoy Jones was spot on during the post fight: AJ has made improvements but ultimately he isn’t that skilled of a boxer. I’d say he has flashes where he can put it together but there is a level of uncertainty you get when watching him vs a skilled opponent.
Wilder is less technical but his stubborn simplicity of spamming the 1-2 in a way feels more strategic and assured. Whereas watching AJ in the Usyk and both Ruiz fights it feels like if he can’t outbox them... you don’t really trust his ability to set up anything. Kinda just hoping shyt works out for him in the exchanges. Idk
What would've happen if Andre Ward truly went up to fight Anthony Joshua?

Folks shytting on AJ for losing to arguably the top pfp boxer in a competitive fight is bizarre to me. No way y'all watched Usyk in the cruiser tourney if today was a shock to you.
