Shibata returns? For real this time? :gladbron:

Exhibition with ZSJ, but he said in his post-match promo that the next time he's in the ring, it'll be in a match. Honestly, it's the most interesting thing to happen in NJPW since the pandemic started. At least since Shingo won the belt.

Tough night for Ibushi, but hopefully absence rehabs him a bit and forces Gedo to stop waiting for foreigners to fix things.

I refuse to comment on the 3 night WK debacle in waiting, except to say that I hope I'm wrong about that.

Hate the Okada-Ibushi match ended the way it did. The match was fire and felt like it was setting up for an amazing finish. Hope Ibushi is not too fukked up but I'm pretty sure he will miss WK. Won't be the same without him especially after the war he had with Jay White earlier this year.

Sucks to see what happened to Ibushi. Hopefully he gets better soon and is able to compete and challenge for the title. Far as the G1, was ok overall to me. I'm a casual fan really so not into any attendance or ratings or what's been happening on the day to day over there. I was hoping that Naito would've won since he's my top fave but he got injured unfortunately. Still was good seeing guys like ZSJ, a favorite to win it for me, Sanada, Shingo, Okada, Ibushi, Yano and his fukkery, Goto, Ishii, and all those guys I don't get to see on a weekly basis since they not on the American companies like AEW, WWE, and impact. I'm happy to see them wrestle but I'm aware there have been issues this year. Hopefully they get things fixed and have a successful wrestle kingdom. Don't know what else is before that other than the best of the super juniors. I think I heard tag league mentioned but not sure. I'll have to keep an eye out and check one of those out. And be ready for January.

Instead of a contract, Okada asked for the old IWGP belt :wow: Restoring the sanity

Okada: Well, I won the G1, and I want to face Ibushi again, but I feel there should be something concrete to represent that. I’m not a champion, and I don’t have anything to put up. The IWGP Heavyweight Championship that Ibushi retired though… I’m not saying that people should call me the ‘X-ieth Heavyweight Champion’ or anything, but I want to hold that belt, until Ibushi gets back.

Usually (the G1 winner) gets a contract and defends that. But maybe I can- in fact, since the chairman is here today, I’m asking- to have the fourth IWGP Heavyweight belt in place of a contract. Is that OK, chairman?

With Gedo having a hard-on for gaijins, NJPW really lacks the depth of young homegrown Japanese talent. The only two main players on the right side of 30 are Okada and Evil. Ibushi and Naito will turn 40 next year, Shingo will be 39, Tana in semi-retirement. Rest are not worth noting.

Shota is coming back soon, most definitely next year, and they have put a rocket straight on him and become the next Tana.

At least Gedo is making Okada the fan's conduit. The match with Shingo should be fukking outstanding too.

.

Narita and Uemura are both doing well on the US side. :manny: Uemura is actually on Bloodsport tonight.

They have some interesting prospects on NJ Strong. Fredricks, Coughlin and Connors have all come along nicely. :ehh:

Kevin Knight is the first Black Young Lion I've seen since I started watching. He definitely shows promise. Haven't caught much of the brand new cats in Japan though

I gotta wait till they debut because the problem New Japan's been faced lately is they drop the ball AFTER the excursion. Either by giving the talent a bad gimmick or just not focusing on their strengths.EVIL was a good prospect believe it or not, and that gimmick happened...the jury is still out for O-Khan but it sure doesn't look good so far, etc.

I like Narita but it's wait and see for me.
