nah. dude is right.

jerry lynn >>> rob van dam

and chit, this thread should be the last place that jerry lynn gets disrespected.
if it wasn't for guys like jerry lynn, most of the people on this show wouldn't be popping at all. hell, this show wouldn't even exist, because the young bucks dam sure wouldn't be relevant.

i ain't gonna sit here and go back and forth with you weird opinion having ass nikkas, let's just look at their CageMatch ratings shall we?
@Hey_zeus you can look too since you started this

Jerry Lynn « Wrestlers Database « CAGEMATCH - The Internet Wrestling Database
Jerry Lynn sitting at a 7.66

Rob Van Dam « Wrestlers Database « CAGEMATCH - The Internet Wrestling Database
RVD sitting at 8.29

Just saw half of it. I didn't like the opening with the Bucks subtly throwing shade: mentioning pyro, etc. It came off awkward.
Regardless if you're a WWE stan or not, it's pretty impressive so far. The logistics alone so insane. Any info on who the backers, sponsors were?

Was the ending of the women's match botched? Tenille being silent when Chelsea Green hit the Broski boot:russ:

I give the Janela/Page match a pass, but Okada/Scurill had no business being that long and could have been cut by 10 minutes.

Agreed. I take the Janela/Page match because of the crazy ass spots. That Vanilla Brit fukked up potential Ibushi fukkery and Young Bucks vs Rick Knox spot. :pacspit:

It started as Cody and the Bucks self financing, but Sinclair Broadcasting got involved and provided all of ROH's screens/rings/camera crew for the event. It was sponsored by TGIFridays and Cracker Barrell, and I'm sure Pro Wrestling Tees and other more local area stuff.

I’m watching the show finally, some thoughts so far for the pre-show:

- SCU vs the Briscoes looked okay. Honestly I’ve never been a Kazarian fan, and while I am a fan of the Briscoes, I didn’t pay attention to this :manny:

- I’m a sucker for battle royals, so I watched the over the budget (:mjlol:) battle royal. Enjoyable, if not a little overlong. I thought Ethan Page, Moose, Martinez, Cage, etc looked good in this. Side note, somebody really has a gimmick pretending to be Billy Gunn’s son? :mjlol: I mean Zilga’s made a career off it so whatever.
Side note #2 who’s the zesty midget? Looked like somebody shrunk Dalton Castle.

The impact of Lucha Underground in the pro wrestling world is incredibly underrated and ignored way too much. Look at this list of achievements:

Pushed Ricochet as its top face and developed his non-existent character work.
Revitalized the career of John Morrison.
Revived the career of Rey Mysterio Jr.
Turned Judas Mesias from TNA into one of the most legit monsters in wrestling today.
Popularized the likes of Fenix, Pentagon, Drago and Aerostar in the US (with Pentagon now being one of the top stars in the world).
Popularized tons of indie talent such as Willie Mack, Bryan Cage and Matt Cross.
Made inter-gender matches work.
Made Vampiro and Konnan relevant again (maybe too relevant since they'll be facing each other in the ring once more).
Gave Chavo Guerrero (arguably) the best match of his career.

And almost all the above was achieved by only two things: Great booking, and great wrestling!

not arguing against the idea of the industry shading LU. I wouldn't know.

but I think it gets skipped over because a lot of these guys were also making waves elsewhere either before or during their LU tenure. especially the guys who are in AAA, which is basically the parent company of LU. so its easier to just cite AAA instead.

either that, or theyre under a mask with a different gimmick that they don't use outside of LU, and most people don't make the connection. its also breaking kayfabe too much if you bring up those guys under the mask in LU. I would've never known matt cross is the son of havoc if it wasn't for this thread. and I forget which LU monster is judas mesias, but I know he put in more work in AAA than he did in TNA. It took a while before I realized shane Strickland is killshot, and hes definitely more of an MLW guy.

and it also doesn't help that their entire season is taped months ahead of time. prime example is the josh matthews spoiler when calling one of their matches in TNA.

they did do a great job of making Fenix, pentaon, drago & aerostar pop off in the US tho. especially pentagon, who I think might be bigger in the US than in mexico at this point.
other than that, only other name I can agree with is willie mack. and somewhat bryan cage.
honestly, not sure about morrison cuz I was out of the wrestling loop for a long while.

And thats just a quarter of the contributions.

Not even talking about giving so called "rejects" like Catrina, Sami Callahan, Ivilesse a shot after they were shytted on elsewhere.... would at Jake Strong but would like to see where he goes from here

But yes, they've done so much for so many cats in so little time.

I mean hell, you go to LU your stock rises because they showcase you in the BEST light possible.

Martha

ehh.

jack swagger joined MLW the same time as LU.

. Side note, somebody really has a gimmick pretending to be Billy Gunn’s son? :mjlol: I mean Zilga’s made a career off it so whatever.

lol. nah.

that's his real-life son breh.
