Both are great, but I got to go with UGK. Also we never saw them hit their full potential because of Pimp C, whereas 8Ball & MJG had all the time to put together music.

I prefer Ball and G, though i will admit UGK has bigger highs. I find i skip around on UGK albums but i let Ball and G albums just ride.

It would have been interesting to see where UGK would have been if Pimp were still around. A lot of rumors were saying him and Bun weren't that close. Not surprised Bun found some mainstream success as a solo artist, more than 8Ball or MJG.

I personally think they probably would have grown apart. Bun definitely wanted to be more mainstream, Pimp wanted to keep it as real as he could.

8Ball and MJG are very dope, I actually need to go back and listen to their albums. But I can't get enough of that UGK southern twang. When it comes to duos, it's all about balance and complementing each other. 8Ball and MJG complement each other so well. Same with Pimp and Bun. That's what make both dos so great.

I am struggling to respond to this thread because I cannot make up my mind.
Sitting On Too Of The World is better than any UGK album.. Lost is better than any UGK album, In Our Lifetime v1 is a personal classic... but some of Pimp C’s production is legendary so UGK were more of a complete package.

As rappers go:
Eightball
Bun
Pimp / MJG

ah I am going with Ball & G.

Yeah if you are going to rank them as just rappers, Pimp is probably last. What made him great wasn't his bars, was his ability to do it all. Could produce, play instruments, sing on hooks and rap. He was a true artist, he could do pretty much everything. Pretty much all my favorite artists are like that, Pimp, Face, Devin, and Big Krit. There is so much more to be an artist than just rapping.

I got 8Ball & MJG by a hair. I feel like 8Ball & MJG >>>>> UGK in the 90's. Not saying UGK was wack or anything. I liked both groups, but I was more or less raised off Coming Out Hard through In My Lifetime Vol. 1 including the solos. From the underground to the mainstream, Ball & G was far more impactful to me in the 90's.

Now once the '00's hit, UGK finally started getting their just due when "Big Pimpin" dropped. I remember being hyped when Jive debuted "Let Me See It" on UGK's official website a year and a half later.
