Last time I drove down state where the Robert Taylor projects were is all green grass now. I went to elementary school directly across the street from them and my mother use to be a teacher at the kindergarten school. A lot of her students lived in those projects

I don’t live or be out south like that anymore this was several years ago

I remember my dad driving down State St and seeing all the empty lots of where the stateway gardens/Robert Taylor Homes used to stand.

It was such a culture shock to me because I read books that spoke about it, but didn't realize how big the place was.

That area would be occupied right now if not for the real estate collapse in 2008.

Marcy is only well known cause of Jay Z.

I played basketball in Marcy, when to school with kids that lived in Marcy, etc, it wasn't that bad. Yes, there was a street element in Marcy just like most PJs in NYC have, but it's not even the worse PJs in Brooklyn.

Marcy, Tompkins and Sumner PJs are right next to each other and I hung out outside in all three while being a nerdy square with no street ties without issue.
The 41st side? :dwillhuh: Mobb Deep used to stay dropping that shyt

Damn, It's still empty lots after all these years.

Do they still call that area in Rogers park "Jungle", now I'm older I think I know what type of timing people were on.
