The BFG Series stuff is indeed confusing. Like I said, great idea, terrible execution.
Why would AJ go for anything less than a submission if he knows that's the only way he gets into the Top 4? why would he not get Daniels DQd to try to win? Hogan laid out a stipulation for Team EGO, said nothing about AJ.
So then Hogan adds one last LAST chance...for 20 points. But in doing that, they should have created some disappointment in AJ not getting in. Or whoever they have planned for the Final 4. Something that makes people go, "oh shyt, there's still another chance!" But people didn't even really understand why BFG was ending to really make a big deal out of it either way.
AJ's promo .... I don't get how it was "bad." Yeah, it was copy and paste worked shoot. But it wasn't like it came out of nowhere. They've been building to these moments ever since they did the Claire Lynch angle.
Here's the thing - I don't think the crowd reacted how they did because they didn't think it was good. I just don't think they knew how to react because nobody knows what AJ's character is. He went back to The Phenomenal One...and then cut a promo that Loner AJ should have cut weeks ago. Like he turned face...and then cut a heel promo
and then by the end, he was trying to be a face again. Saying that he gives fans there money's worth and he'll be champion again, which they kinda responded favorably to...after booing his heel rant.
Again, I think it was a good promo. Especially the parts about how the company makes all these failing changes and then he comes in and holds shyt down...it was just not cut at the right time. This is a promo loner AJ should have cut a long time ago.
