Business Insider and Forbes are reporting the same thing Entrepreneur is reporting.
You're right that Nvidia has made a lot of employees wealthy, but I also think it's important to report on what's actually happening.
Those tweets are trying to paint an overly rosy picture that ignores the reality of Nvidia's brutal work culture. The Forbes articles details some of this. They have a quote from the CEO talking about how he likes to "torture employees into greatness." And that sounds exactly like what they're actually doing, so those workers damn well deserve to benefit from that growth, especially when they're being pushed to work 7 days a week until 1 to 2 am.
They also detail the "golden handcuffs" thing where people can't really leave the company because their stock grants only vest over four years. So they end up being stuck working these insane hours just to keep the stock money coming in. They also talk to employees who said they'd have left sooner if not for that. It's good that they make a lot, but it's bad how they get burned out in the process. Still, I guess it's cool to see, but I think we should keep in mind that the pressure they're under is a huge part of how all this money got made.
It’s funny, they have maybe the highest satisfaction rating on Glassdoor.com though, nearly five star reviews from the employees working there.
At this point we’re all on the outside looking in really, but that company is doing some seriously incredible things and that usually does mean hard work but it also means some very inspired employees as well. Even many of the Glassdoor reviews who say it can get busy rate the company highly. There are even some reviewers who say it’s slow.
Like I mentioned, they’re also a 100% remote company if someone wants it. That’s something that is very well-known: Not a single employee works in an office if they don’t want to. shyt, many people wouldn’t want to leave for that reason alone.
They’re very much a proponent when it comes to working from home. CEO has said it quite a lot of times how much he supports it and says he’s completely fine with an employee whether they want to come into an office, work hybrid or be 100% remote, their choice. Many Glassdoor reviews are remote.
Interesting note: when was the last time you saw Black folks rate a company 4.5/5. They’re rating it as high as the Asian folks working there and nearly as high as the White folks working there. Latin workers at 4.4/5. Only people who rated it below 4 stars are Middle Eastern. Men and Women rate it equally at 4.6/5. Additionally a 5 star rating for LGBTQ and DEI. Basically as close to a Gold Standard company as you’ll find in the STEM industry.
