When the story Trayvon Martins murder was at its peak, I saw first hand how the narrative shifted into the "decline" of Black American Youths instead of yknow, the dangers and injustice of racial profiling.

But my father has a saying that a "broken clock is right twice a day". I dont doubt that some of the talking points and statistics and stories are publicized as means to shame Blacks and reinforce racist attitudes. But if an element of truth exists within these statements, then shouldn't we be discussing them further and trying to fix them?

I don't think @Ronnie Lott is trying to say we shouldn't do better because other communities do it too, people are trying to make it seem like only black people have this problem trying to make it seem like it's something that's "wrong" with black people when every race deals with oow births. I mean, I've seen (and railed against) shows like teen mom (which didn't have many if any, blacks on it) but its rampant in our communities, then couple that with the single mother/no father in the home problem and we are where we are today...you see where I'm coming from?

I'm from DC, I ride metro every day...I see a LOT of white women married or ring on their finger, but when I go to Anacostia/Congress Heights, etc all i see is girls 13, 14 with strollers...Single moms with 3+ kids NO RINGS on fingers, and it breaks my heart...I know not all of the white women are married or hell, even good people, but its like a unicorn in my "hood" I hate that. We CAN do better for ourselves, we just gotta stop making excuses for ourselves or defending bullcrap.

I really care about my community/people, I couldn't give a damn bout any other culture, race, whatever. So yeah, I'ma go a lil harder on my own, cuz I want the truly best for US...Just like kids...I want all kids to succeed and be in a great environment, I just want MY kids to do the best...figgadealme?
