Yes, that's where we're headed. Except it will get much worse. Coastal cities will be uninhabitable. Flooding, tidal waves, and earth quake risks will just be too high to build anything there and nobody will insure it. Forest fires will ruin homes in more hotter environments like california. It will be too expensive to run air conditioning in the summer, so living in the south will become far more expensive. Because the central states and mid west will have the most safe weather, it will be overrun by millionaires and Real Estate Investment Trusts. A 1 bedroom will easily cost between 3-4k a month, and nobody will live without a roommate unless they're making over 120k a year after taxes. Every city will have slums that make skid row look like a paradise. So you mean... like society today?
Eventually most people will be literally too poor to live and will die from drug overdoses, starvation, disease, suicide, or terrorist actions. That's just America. Africa will just be a giant desert because the Chinese will have bought out and over farmed the best farm land and will have hunted most of the interesting animals to extinction. Because the farmland will be ruined, there won't be much livestock either. Island nations like Japan will straight up sink from powerful earthquakes and tidal waves.
Europe will fall back into fascism again as climate refugees try to move in there. They'll eventually start wiping out as many non-whites as they can, but because the cacs cant afford to even have kids, they'll start dying out too.
We're living in the apocalypse right now. The four horsemen aren't literal, they're the things that once they arrive all at once will spell the end for humanity: sword(war), famine, wild beasts, and plague. I think the only one that's off is the wild beasts, but that could refer to a loss in human rationality which we've been witnessing. The people who have power have become dumber and dumber to the point where you have people like Trump getting elected. We've already got one plague popping off, and as resources become more scarce, war is an inevitability. Famine will be there as well since there won't be any good farmland left, for any except for the extremely wealthy to access. You already see it with the growing price of grain products and how little a dollar can get you now in the way of food compared to what it could get you 40 years ago.
