Well doesn't nothing happen plenty of times when you don't have a gun as well.

Nothing happens in my life and I don't own a gun, is that considered a great success? I`m safe and sound and everything is cool.

My point is, where is the story of the athlete whose packing who saves a bank robbery? Or the one who prevents a child from being kidnapped? Or the one who had someone try to come in his house and take valuables and was thwarted by him carrying?

You never hear of a good story when it comes to gun ownership, but you do hear of Rae Carruth's, Javon Belcher's, Plaxico Burress, Junior Seau etc so on and so forth.

I agree with that. Since the 2nd amendment wont go anywhere, it would be better for more minorities and people in urban dwellings to get involved in the gun ownership debate and the NRA and groups of that ilk.

The amendment is more in place so the government in the event of tyrannical takeover is fearful of their own citizenry in the even they ever tried to use force to take them over. It's a classic case of how some believe the government should be fearful of its citizens and not the other way around.

I don't remember the exact story, but I recall back when the Soviets occupied Finland, the first thing they did was force all of the farmers and citizens to give up their guns. They did this because if they disarmed the public, they could overpower them and take them over, but the Finnish fought back and refused to surrender their weapons.

If you have a society where your citizens have guns, you would assume the government would be less willing to take them over because they'd know they'd have a bloody fight on their hands.

This not a gun issue, this is a people issue. Black, white, hispanic, asian, the reality is most people have no idea how to properly operate a firearm.

In a state like Wyoming where 60% of the population own guns legally, the violent crime rates are extremely low. This is more an issue of lack of gun education and gun awareness mixed in with extraneous social issues.

Lack of familiarity or knowledge breeds ignorance and fear. When you're fearful of something, it's natural to try and ignore or get rid of it.

Owning a firearm is a huge responsibility, and not everyone is fit to own one.

why do people ignore the fact that pro athletes get robbed at gunpoint often. People act like pro athletes have not been killed at the hands of individuals with guns. Would Sean Taylor be alive today if he had a gun to protect him? Darren Williams? Maybe.

Personally speaking, I have been in situations where I have had guns pulled on me and I have been shot at. That is a helpless feeling to know that I couldn't protect myself because i wasn't packing a gun then. My life was in the balance and lied in the hands of the person with a gun.

I am willing to bet that the millions of people that are victims of violent crimes (home invasions, rapes, assaults, armed robbery, kidnappings etc) they wish they had a gun to protect themselves. But those of u who have never been victim to a crime or have never been in some real shyt, have no idea what Im talking about
