Yeah, I can understand it more from a fighter. You’re in it. You’re in the ring taking punches. Not watching boxing could be a mechanism of creating distance between yourself and the sport. However, a trainer? Naw, Imma need my trainer to be up watching Floyd Patterson fights on 8mm film on some Cus D’Amato shyt.

Errol's punches weren't as snappy because unlike his previous opponents, dude was in there with someone who wouldn't stand in front of him.

For example, that's a massive body shot landed to another fighter and potentially a follow-up combination. But how Crawford fought him, dude was seeing those loaded punches coming from a distance away.
The most telling thing in this clip is the push in the very beginning. Anytime Spence tried to smother bud, bud would just push his ass away with no effort. Not sure why people thought Spence was the stronger man. You put Bud and Spence in a wrestling match and bud would rag doll him. Spence had absolutely nothing for him.

I believe Floyd mentioned that he never watches fight tape

Yeah, he used to say that. He’d say that once he gets in the ring with you he knows what you’re going to do.

Floyd was 🧢, though. I think it was one of those things that Floyd would say to increase his image/brand on some, “I don’t even write raps, I freestyle all my verses,” shyt. It’s akin to him being on 24/7 buying a whole bunch of candy in Walmart (I believe), drinking soda at open workouts, sparring with no headgear on a few days before the fight not worried about being cut, etc. Like, “I’m this fukking goooood.” I think it’s one of those things he said that wasn’t really true, but boosted his image.

Speaking of Floyd, I know he was ringside thinking…. “Man, I can come out of retirement and challenge Bud, put my zero on the line versus his, my wining streak against his, the old man against the young lion and make a cool 150 million.

*insert Birdman hand rub gif*

It’s not going to happen. Floyd is too old. Yet, we all know Floyd is about his paper, paper. I know it crossed his mind.

Super casual here but it’s interesting looking at all the pre-fight predictions in hindsight. Some of y’all were spot on, others were…:pachaha:

Nah Floyd is too smart. He knows bud would beat the dog shyt out of him at this point. shyt, Floyd knows bud would give him hell even in his pretty boy days. Floyd already said bud has "young Floyd" talent. Which pretty much means he concedes that bud is better than his older welterweight self. The bud we seen on Saturday is quite possibly the greatest welterweight that ever lived.
