RAW came out the gates pretty strong last night:
- 2 GREAT fatal 4-way matches that shows that RAW has at least 9 (and Brock part time) guys who they consider main-event level.
- The return of the JOBBERS. We all know how watching the jobber match on Saturday mornings is how we grew up on wrestling. Had 2 great jobbers (3 if you want to count The Shining Stars) there just to take that through ass whoopin. Helps build characters, get them TV time, and doesnt burn off future matchups/ fueds.
- A new Womens' champion in Sasha Banks in a great RAW womens match, top 2-3 womens match on RAW ever, possibly #1 (even had the matching suicide jump through ropes that almost was a suicide like the Lita/Trish match). Will be a great rematch at SummerSlam with an even hotter Brooklyn crowd. Sasha showed out last year at Barclays, so she will look to do the same this year.
- It didnt sound like they are gonna make a new Womens' title. Sasha kept saying she is THE best. I think the womens roster is too thin, but we will see. 2 titles for 14 wrestlers is overkill.
- A new star in Finn Balor. Not new to most of us who have watched NXT, but from the comments in the thread, new to a healthy portion of the audience, so it was a great debut to showcase him.
- Probably the end of the punishment for Roman Reigns, having to put over Balor clean in the main event. Not being in the SummerSlam main event is his payback for his suspension. No idea what they will do with him for SummerSlam though.
- Return is good comedy here and there with The Golden Truth and their Pokemon adventures throughout the night.
- Debut of Corey Graves at the announce table. He is a much needed change, and will be a good heel voice. Saxton sounded relieved that JBL is gone. Never heard dude so chipper at the desk like he was at Battleground, lol. His in-ring interview with the jobber that Strowman destroyed showed some of what the E sees in him. He has some humor, just has to relax.
- Best part might have been not hearing from Steph/ Foley after the first segment. They let the wrestlers be the starts of the show, the way it should be.
RAW matches for SummerSlam look pretty good:
- Rollins vs. Balor (WWE Universial (smh) title match)
- New Day (c) vs. The Club (Tag Titles)
- Banks (c) vs. Charlotte (rematch- Womens title match)
- Lesnar (RAW) vs. Orton (SD)
- Rusev (c) vs. ? (US title match)
