One of the most underrated shows of the decade IMO. I hated the goofiness of Pirates of The Caribbean so Black Sails seriousness was much appreciated.
But here's the low down, it's sort of a prequel to the Treasure Island story featuring the fictional pirates from there but with historical pirates, the first season is considered

because of it being mostly a set up and world building season. Brehs didn't want to see pirates politicking and shyt but it gets good half way through. shyt really pops off from season 2 on, characters you thought you hated become favorites, the stakes become higher, production value in naval combat is crazy. There's a nice immersive scene in season 1 where the camera follows a regular mook during a boarding
