:ehh: didn’t realize Unity was around that long…it’s actually one of the things the program offers an introduction to.

We got a snake schedule…come in during the afternoon our 1st two days. Leave super early our last two. So outside of OT I pretty much got the middle of the week off.

Also, when flight traffic was down due to Covid we got a crazy amount of breaks at work, so a lot of people were fukking with the markets during breaks.
Yeah Unity has been on the scene since at least 2013 and it's a good way to gain knowledge and have fun. Much lower barrier of entry than UE was at the time, and the documentation was far beyond anything else I'd seen. It's probably because of this that Unity games get a bad rap, it's just easy to use so lower quality stuff gets out out.

Good problems to have. Use that leverage to advantage.
That's the plan. Being a HR breh in tech industry, there are only so many places I can go to and maintain my current pay.

End of July gives me 1 year at my current gig, I should have job security until May 2023. Probably need to start looking at other opportunities in April 2023

:what:Hold up you in HR.

You could at least “recommend” what some of us should do to get hired, before you go. :hubie:

Man. I'm in the weirdest data conundrum ever. We have a NoSQL that clearly everyone from C-level to the floor workers hate. To the point, that the data is being cannibalized to other systems. One group moved sales data to CRM/Azure. Another moved payroll data to some 3rd party payroll platform. Now we got another dept trying to move finance and inventory data to Azure. My team wants the NoSQL data to do reports. My manager says yes to everyone else but us. Told us to use the NoSQL API if we want data. Don't move it to SQL. What. The. fukk.

i can't be the only person who couldn't give a fukk about annual/mid-year reviews. like, if i suck at my job, you should let me know in real time, otherwise, after reaching a certain point, i am who i am. all this "chance to get feedback" shyt is silly, everyone isn't going to be good at everything. reviews don't really help most people outside of those who are early in their career or trying to track specifically to a new role or promotion, anyone mid to senior career who is content at their level, and performing acceptably, aint changing :ld:

I guess they're good for developmental goal setting and accountability.

The complaint I've always had about them is that the subordinate doesn't get to provide feedback on how the manager is doing.

I've been in offices where the manager is terrible, but everyone just does their job despite it (typically the bare minimum). When the manager gets reviewed the higher-ups only see the bottom line and goal met.

It's detrimental to the company because I know that a capable manager could have doubled production.

Higher-ups should request and include feedback from subordinates in those reviews...

I seriously just might be a DBA :ohhh:

There can't be a position more cushy than a DBA.

I can legit be fake busy all the time. :ohhh:

Then decide to work randomly at like 2am if I want to. :ehh:

Plus there's a creative component to it, where you have to think through Database design. :whew:

I say this as I'm constructing a DB right now. :youngsabo:

Until shyt starts to hit the fan with a database and you gotta troubleshoot :mjlol:
I actually don't mind that part.

It seems pretty interesting tbh.

But I can only imagine what my DBA had to / has to deal with when new hires don't know or care to learn how to do basic queries like joining a table.

I'm just looking at it from the point of view that there's a decent of amount of time that, you can claim to busy "troubleshooting / reading up on / configuring something" while you're really just playing 2k, at the beach, or sleep. :whew:

Youtube is a godsend. I play youtube tutorials on one of my screens all day, to stop the forced idle screensaver :mjlol:.

You could also use a Powershell script to do the same thing.

I wrote a small program to move the mouse location 1 pixel in each direction (N, E, S, W) every few seconds to stop our VPN idle lockout.

It worked really well and had next to no effect on mouse usage.

I am a programmer but I did the OCP and SCP sybase and oracle DBA exams. Well Oracle was more DBA-centric where sybase included more stored proc development.
