Potential spoiler on who Jay White's opponent will be

Calling bs on this. Would be a terrible call all the way around if this happens.
Right, Cause then Hangman & Cole are left off…?

Plus neither guy in that scenario can take an L.

Just make the shyt a triple threat. We already here now and it’s been terrible booked. Should’ve just announced the cards ahead of time like ROH/NJPW used to do.

If we don’t get Danielson vs Okada some point soon man :francis:
I don't see a scenario were that match happens anywhere but Japan. New Japan ain't gonna give their top matchups to AEW (even if it's a joint show) unless they absolutely have to and my guess is Okada is no-no for Punk and Danielson until a Dome show or 2023 G-1.

My (other) guess is that they see Danielson as their next big gaijin if Covid restrictions are completely lifted; fans cheering being the last hurdle to book Dragon, who has already stated he ain't interested unless they can have normal crowd reactions and he can travel quickly from the US to Japan.

That’s a good point, you’re probably right

Dream scenario would be Danielson in the G1, winning it and then facing Okada at WK

That way we get a lot of great matchups in the tournament and then the money match for Japan

I dont know what the point of this PPV was if these kinda restrictions were place. The office working TK like a rookie :francis:

It seems the original plan was Punk vs Tanahashi, Okada vs Page and Danielson vs ZSJ (which might still happen depending on what's Dragon status, and dude is scheduled to speak on it on Wednesday). Those 3 are a better marquee match combo than what DoN had, imo :hubie:

You also have to take into account that New Japan has always been stingy about "giving up" on big matches for interpromotional shows like this one. So at worst, this current card is par of the course with them. And if injuries and change of plans (White getting the belt? no idea if that was always planned but it sure seemed they wanted Page vs Okada) hadn't happened, it would've been a much better card than what NJPW is willing to offer in joint events.
