Just watched the main event. Definitely got Austin/Rock vibes with the rivalry they try to create between the two and I like the survival angle of Omega not going down, but so much of the early stuff in the match is just pure filler. They spent like 15 minutes on that angle of Okada tweaking his knee and Omega working it, then they completely forget about it once the match moves into the next phase. That is just fukking bullshyt and I can't give it a pass even if the rest of the match was great.

I wonder what their plans are for Cody because with the whole 'Throw the damn towel!':damn: angle it seems they're going to create some friction in the Bullet Club on top of giving him a (short?) main event push.

Yeah I notice the slowdown in some areas of the match which helps with the argument of keeping matches 20 to 30 minutes. I understand "fighting spirit" but wtf:scust:.

Okada/ Omega was fire. The way Kenny hits those knees is just :whoo:Okada out here trying to fill up 1-10 on everyone's MOTY lists.:whew:

The whole crowd simultaneously going :ooh:around 51 minutes, when the intensity picked up was :banderas:.

Kenny to win back to back G1's and the last match in this trilogy at Wrestle Kingdom. 100% in :wow:

Five star main event. The people complaining about filler know absolutely nothing about wrestling. The whole purpose to the start of that match is to establish layers. Okada is better than Omega but Omega won't give in is the story at the end but that's just as fitting at the start. All the chain wrestling had Okada coming out on top. Omega loses out almost everywhere. Okada cops an injury after his tope con hilo and Omega, instantly, is on it like the villain he is looking for an edge. Despite that, he still can't put Okada away and Okada like the god he is puts a fukking thrashing on him. They do the towel spot and the match kicks up another level with Omega refusing to die and Okada doing everything to kill him. This was so detailed and special and a truly epic story and match. You can take that filler talk the fukk outta here though.

just finished Naito/Tanahashi :wow:the storytelling was once again top notch. Tanahashi struggling to stay a principled man but there is only so much disrespect a man can take. Then you had both guys working on a specific body part and to have it pay off in the end was :banderas: too.

Been a while since I heard a crowd so outwardly against Naito :ehh:and that dread they were feeling was real :russ:

bout to watch the main event now

I felt the Naito/Tana feud was equivalent to Batman and Joker. Tana representing good and have strong morals, while Naito represents anarchy, hence why he kept treating the IWGP belt like trash. This match felt like some The Dark Knight shyt from Tana beating Naito down before the belt even rung:mjlol:to dudes attacking each other weaknesses. So friggin good:banderas:. Makes me proud to put up with this carny shyt:mjcry:.

Get the fukk out of here with this elitist "you don't know shyt about wrestling if you didn't like it" bullshyt :heh: :heh:

The problem I had with Okada's performance was HOW he overcame the work on his leg. Omega was teasing him with kicks to the back and head, Okada gets pissed off, shows some fighting spirit and then the leg is never an issue in the match again. He didn't put a thrash on that work because he's a "god" - this is the first match in his 1 year reign were he took the dominant role for most of the match - he just shrugged it off because it wasn't a big part of the story of the match and went on to the next thing.

They basically put a "tweaking the knee" spot and control section around it to FILL IN TIME. Nothing more and nothing less. The work didn't mean anything to the story of the match and it was just something for them to do for 10 minutes (or was it longer?). Which begs the question of why the fukk work something it it's going to be meaningless.

The match was about Kenny surviving and enduring the Ace's best effort. That's a cool story. But when the execution of it is 40 minutes of trading moves and transitions with no meaning whatsoever besides "hey, these guys are even!" (something like that should never take that fukking long to establish) so you can then go into the real meaningful stuff...it just comes across to me like flawed match that felt like a chore to watch for 2/3 of it. No matter how cool and dramatic the last third was, it didn't take away the fact that I couldn't stand much of what came before it. Like, I could start watching the match at the 37 minute mark and not miss anything worth a damn and be :krs: :lupe: at everything that happens once they go into the "throw the damn towel :damn:" tease.

That was my issue with most of the match to be honest. Selling is whatever when it's not a big part of the story of the match, I can love a dramatic spotfest no problem. The match had nothing to do with limb targeting and selling, it was about endurance. But when 80% of what your are doing in the match is just filler then it becomes annoying, specially when it's so damn long.

By the way I'm not saying you are wrong for loving the match. But not getting that other people might find a good portion of that match to be filler is weird to me.

ps: holy shyt that was waaaay longer than I intended it to be :francis:

:ehh:Dap and rep for effectiveness. I'm a big fan of "big match feel" matches that go beyond the limits, but it was blatant that they were killing time during those filters. The match should have been 30 minutes or fukkery to fill in the gaps.
