Breh the first 40 minutes were atrocious. It told NOTHING besides "these two sure know how to trade moves and change turns".

The last 20 minutes were pretty damn good but I couldn't just forget the chore of the first 2/3 of the match.

It was another unnecessarily long spotfest :mjcry:

:yeshrug: Still 5 stars for me, b. Maybe I was rewired by all those DG spotfests.

Watching this now. I don't think I'll ever be able to take Zack Sabre Jr seriously

And worst, the fact he is in SUZUKI-GUN, of all stables. He's the only one who doesn't seem to belong.

Goto/Suzuki was fukkery at its finest. I had a blast watching that match:whew:. If only NJPW did a wargames type of match with CHAOS/Suzuki Gun just for the trifecta :wow:.

I'm still trying to get used to Tana's new theme btw:scust:

Only watched the last two matches.

Naito vs Tanahashi was fukking awesome, MOTYC :obama: Naito was the better man but he kept getting caught in Tana's equalizer (the dragon screw) and when it seemed he had survived Tana's best punch - the dreaded sling blades out of nowhere + High Fly Flow combo - he was caught again in a hold he just couldn't get out of. It was pretty amazing hearing the Osaka crowd so into this match and so "meh" for 85% of the main event....smarten up Gedo

Omega vs Okada II....:ld:

The WK was a really fun spotfest were the first 20 minutes were completely unnecesary for the match they ended up having. This one was a 1 hour match were the FIRST 40 fukkING MINUTES meant absolutely nothing. And the crowd knew it, they reacted very little to anything they did besides a couple of cool sequences or big bumps. It was a shyttier version of their Dome match up to that point. I was really close to just fast forward the match a couple of times, it really felt like a chore to watch.
It only came alive once they teased Cody throwing in the towel for Kenny - which didn't make much sense to me, Okada asked Red Shoes to stop it and Omega was still very much reacting to everything, then the whole BC came out. but whatever, it wasn't as bad as what they did before that happened - Then it FINALLY got going and the crowd started to get really invested in what they were doing. The last 20 minutes were a dramatic spotfest that were neatly done. Problem was that the previous long ass filler was impossible to forget.
I honestly thought Kenny was going to win at the 59:50 mark or something, but the story ended up being he survived Okada. Too bad the excecution of the story was so disjointed and messy.

I still think these two could have an awesome 20-25 minute match were they just condense all their spots in a full on sprint. I hope that's what they do the next time they face each other. I fukking pray it's in the US shows, but I guess we gotta get fukkng Cody vs Okada now :beli:

This is why I tend not to be too interested in watching the most recent NJPW main events. Beyond just flat out not having the time to watch a 35-40 minute main events on a regular basis, Gedo and others seem to have forgotten that economy and efficiency is superior to excess in all aspects of life. I'd much rather have a compact 20-30 minute main event than a match that goes 60 for the sake of going 60 (especially given that even the best of the best have a lot of trouble making Broadways interesting).

Just...I'm sure it was good and I might watch it when I have time, but the prospect of a 60 minute version of a match that, while great, could have used some trimming doesn't exactly light my world on fire.

I remember when late 00's NOAH main problem was doing exactly this....and those were 30-35 minute matches. Now New Japan just went overboard with it :dead:

The booking of this Omega/Okada feud is very interesting because of the X-Factor in Naito. Do you put the belt on Naito by WK next year or not?

After what he did to the previous belt....I really not ready for Naito to chuck the championship like a action figure just yet:mjcry:. Belt is too beautiful for it to be treated like a worn out pillow:scust:.

Naito/Tana 2 is MOTYC btw. Felt like a live action anime:blessed:

Shouldn't have lost it when he did but I don't EVER see them putting that belt on his crazy ass after what he did to the IC belt

Crazy that he never got his rematch though

Yes. He's more over than Omega and still has more momentum 1 year after getting a transitional reign. Kenny's spot can be filled by someone else, not Naito's.
