And wats funny is alot of producers/actors are turning their attention to making more tv shows rather than being straight movie actors.

It's a bigger draw than it was, and it's a great place for B and C list stars to keep getting solid work....but the stars stick to the big screen. This goes for directors and actors.

I was thinking about this the other day, but more about the quality of some TV shows now compared to before. To me it feels like the last 10 years has experienced a renaissance in TV shows especially compared to movies, but I also have to admit that I have missed a lot of TV shows and movies that have come out and the length of the shows making them become more appreciated. Plus I don't have any real knowledge of TV of the past to compare the great TV shows of today to past years.

I just know that I really appreciate seeing a bunch of TV shows getting big budgets.

It's similar to american economy in film. The middle class films are getting pushed out. You don't see as many 5-10 mil dollar films getting made. Most of the big movies are either hundred million or more blockbusters or the really cheap horror films in the Blair Witch tradition.

The movie has to be on some god status type shyt for me to watch it.I used to be able to watch a random movie with ease but now they all seem too rushed .HBO/AMC has spoiled a nikka. I can still enjoy a good comedy though.

Yea def as far as serious/realistic movies go. Movies still got the big budget/popcorn corner on lock due to their huge budgets. But as far as dramas and such, there haven't been any movies released on the level of something like The Wire or Breaking Bad. With the quality of cable shows released this past decade those types of movies just cant cut it anymore with such a short runtime.

this. my only problem with tv is that obviously they wont have as big a budget as a summer blockbuster so stuff like game of thrones gets trimmed due to budget. they've done a good job working with what they have though.

And, you see a number of established actors/actresses making the transition to TV.

I can't wait for Aaron Sorkin's Newroom.

The "quality" of movies are actually at an all-time high..

Currently the average person's attention span is is far shorter. People dont have the patience to appreciate a good long movie.
