Is this satire? I could use these lists to make a thread about the whitewashing of black music, yet you're using them to do the opposite.

The Beatles, Elvis, Eminem, major lazer...

The fact that g eazy seems so popular when he barely warrants a mention amongst hip hop fans is a cause for concern imo

Bey is the one person really selling albums...that tidal exclusive shyt killed her potential for streams, yet she makes the albums chart due to folks actually buying her shyt.

Not to :deadhorse: but as i've said in so many threads, the black female artist is dead...these lists are proof. If you're not bey, rih, or nicki (who wasn't on cycle this year and whose star might be waning), you're getting no love.

That "gold" song by kiiara was my shyt :whew:

funny how some folks tried to say future was getting cold, while others laud cole...yet here they sit neck and neck :sas1:

Black females being big in the mainstream is a sad sight. There is just a lack resources being put behind black female artist these days. Jhene is getting the push with features, etc but none of her new solo work has taken off.

Whats going to be interesting is if Tiller can repeat some of this success or is he going to drop off the face of the earth like Alsina who had great run with his 1st album

It's first mover advantage really. Very rarely is there another artist who is going touch the success of someone else in the same lane. Solange had some decent success this year by occupying a lane that no one else was in and because of good marketing. Beyonce - superstar performer/black woman superhero role model. Rihanna - the IDGAF bad girl and the more popish one, almost the black britney spears. Nicki - the rapper. It's almost reflective of the limited roles society has for black women period. I'm still surprised that there hasn't been an Asian female superstar at some point. At least not one from the western world.

:ohhh: I never really thought of it like that. I would like to see Solange stay in the mainstream. Hopefully she tours and tours well and drops a followup in a year or two.

Ehh...not feeling this. There was a time multiple black women were shining at once - Ashanti, amerie, beyonce, Alicia keys, mary j, faith Evans, toni Braxton, keyshia cole, rihanna, ciara, brandy, Monica, Aaliyah, Janet, Mariah, erykah, Jill, lauryn, eve, Kim, foxy, trina, brat, missy, etc. I honestly don't hear any black females on urban radio outside the three i named plus an occasional jhene aiko, and on the supporting local side - kelani and Kamaiyah (who I'm sure aren't getting many spins nationally)
