I'll say this much, this isnt an L in this sense of him filing for bankruptcy, it happens everyday with rich business men.. but it is an L due to the fact that it even got to this point, now the perception of 50 will be that he's broke. The average person on social media isnt gonna have the attention span to read the details of this, they just see bankruptcy and its automatically assumed that he's broke. He been trending worldwide all day and its a bunch of cacs making "he's down to his last 50 cent" and "get rich or die tryin" jokes.. the fact that a rap beef that he didnt even start eventually lead to this has to eat at him.. even if his strategy works out that won't make as many headlines as "50 cent is broke", some things are worth more than having to pay a bytch.. like your reputation:ld:, now theres always gonna be a stigma on my Godfather even if its false:mjcry: the only way he comes back from this is if he makes some monster type deal in the same vein as his vitaman water one or Dre's beats deal and thats a long shot

He's the type of person that never cared what people thought like that, the money is more important too him.

50 cent bankruptcy explained per reddit post

This filing buys him the time he wants/needs to pay his debts. He's not "bankrupt" in the typical usage of the term.

He's filing chapter 11 bankruptcy; this is not bankruptcy as most citizens know it. The bankruptcy that most people know is Chapter 7 bankruptcy (or chapter 13 under certain conditions) and is a total reset where you are left with no assets and no debts.

Chapter 11 bankruptcy is typically known as a "restructuring" bankruptcy. Given the lawsuits they quote in the article, I would assume he does not have immediate access to the liquid assets necessary to pay his immediate debts. This filing is to protect his investments while his financial team develops the most appropriate plan to pay his lawsuit debts. Paying $20mm is not an emergency for someone worth $500mm; paying $20mm in the next 30 days for most people of significant wealth is an emergency--most of their wealth is in investments. Think Zuckerberg here... Net worth of ~40 billion. 24 billion of that is in Facebook stock. It's not easy to free up mass units of stock for their fair market value because selling off large units of stock tanks the stock value.

Obviously the dude aint broke but he still takes a L when you consider he would rather hide his finances than pay $6 million for trying to get a woman involve and cross some foul lines in a beef with Ross from year's back.

it's an L because as his music career faded into bolivia, the one thing the 50 stans had to hang their du rags on was that he was such a shrewd businessman, now we know that's not really true.

obviously he's not a bum ass broke boy, but it's clear the dude ain't caking like everyone thought and is having to scramble to restructure his funds to figure out how to pay off all his debts

He's not trying to hide anything. Other financial people reddit are saying he's pretty much trying to just stretch out paying her. So instead of her getting $5million today. He can stretch it out over 5-10 years and if he still can't repay it by the end he'll get a discharge on the amount still owed. He's just trying to make it near impossible for her to collect.
