lol what is this based off of?

what constitutes the youth being more pro gay than pro black?
They aren't really interested in pro black stuff and history... they usually follow along with the media for views and ideas (like normal kids)
They mention things about gay shyt.... never pro black sounding stuff so... I guess it's just an assumption.

Good point, in a way I see it as a ways of diminishing the truth of the black suffering, its lenght and its range. there are significant differences between being gay and being black, the most obvious being one can hide their sexual preferences, but one cannot hide one's colour. That's only one difference.

I don't even see why people feel the need to compare discriminations. Each one is different and has a specific context. So you cannot apply the same methods, nor the same reasonings, in order to fight them. Islamophobia is not the muslim version of anti-semitism, anti-Black racism is not the same type nor has the same roots as as anti-Arab racism, and so on and so on. each is specific and comparing them or saying bs like "gay is the new black" doesn't make any sense.

The best reason: Disliking someone for doing things you find disgusting, is not even remotely as bad as liking someone because of their racial or ethnic background.

who is though? I'd argue the majority of millenials do not and will not express their interest until college

I was making pro black art work in middle school... it's parents who are supposed to teach children... or they will only listen to the media to guide their interest.

And pre-college, I'd argue that the majority of millenials will have a pro opinion of gay rights. I believe it's even a fad now, NTM the majority of shows that target their demographic are at Glee levels w the propaganda.

Having a pro opinion of gay rights IS NOT the same as being pro black. It doesn't require the same action. It doesn't require the same mental commitment. It doesn't require anything but saying, "Yeah gay people can do whatever they wanna do."

And if its the parents who are supposed to teach children, and the children as you say aren't "pro black", then doesn't that mean the parents aren't pro black either?

yeah, that's exactly what it means...... which is really the problem. I never blame kids for anything. Not for selling drugs, not for getting preg, not for being c00ns, not for anything.

children are mostly a reflection.. What they are reflecting right now is horrible, imo.

Not really. These were the original statements

It's upsetting that this outrageously disgusting claim that "gay is the new black" has even so much as garnered a thread.
Has it really picked up that much steam amongst general Black thought/community?

notice the phrase "general"

yeah, with younger black people.

I work w plenty of youth and they are def more pro gay than pro black (in general) .... I don't push my opinion because they have parents for that and that's not what i'm there for.

your response, yes with "younger black people"….this is not the same as "general black thought"

There is a pretty blatant push in certain circles where they've
somehow conflated being "Gay" with being "Black" because Gay Marriage
is the current hot button civil rights issue.
The differences are obvious to anyone who even paid a little
attention in Highschool to American history.

It's why I found particular disgust in that clown Asap Rocky saying "They're the same !!"
on the MTV awards :snoop:

It's connected/related. If people aren't getting taught to be pro black ... or to even really care about black issues..... but at the same time are influenced by peers/ media to care about gay issues...

then they will be more pro gay than pro black.

You're gross for even knowing those lines... I can't even listen to that garbage.
And it's NOT the same hate.
It has not caused any of that shyt...it's only caused people to be offended because others do not agree with their sexual Preference/birth defect (which ever one it's called this week)
Black people were fighting for human rights.. up until the 70's... the civil rights were just a bonus.Gay men and women mostly fight for validation and acceptance, not rights.
And HATE is a strong word to describe what people think of gays. People actually hated black people and wanted to kill and/or shyt on black people's advancement. ....
The vast majority of people really could care less about gay people. With the people who do have an opinion - most don't Hate gay people. There are so few people who actually hate gay people that it's not even worth discussing. Also, to paint everyone who isn't out there marching in Gay Rights Parades as homophobic is doing more harm than good.

So for argumentative purposes what if the roles were reversed in some wild crazy alternate universe.

Basically your desire for the opposite sex being looked at the same way a gay/lesbian person likes the same gender.

Do you think you could live in a universe or tolerate being treated the same way gays do just because of who you are and what you like and not feel oppressed and discriminated against?
