So you'd pick Costa Rica ove South Africa???yea I didnt like that either, but the thing is, americans demand a level of infrastructure that a lot of african countries cant provide, esp if youre an older cat, you want to have first level hospital available to do your routine check ups. god forbid you get diabetes while youre in those countries or something. the medical care in america is pricey but its first tier. places like dubai, costa rica, HK can at least compete.
I was surprised to see so many black people in Thailand and not just africans, actual african americans. I was like

To expand on that, people have family, friends and extended family here too. To just up and leave to a country where you don't know anyone is tough. Especially when moving to countries where they speak a different language.

Ive lived in Costa Rica, doggy. And have been in the hospital there too. Granted it was just to get checked out for smoke inhalation (data center i was working at caught fire) but still. Many African countries have the infrastructure that is equal or better
