My cable is included in the rent. But before that, the only thing keeping me from canceling my cable was sports archaic black out rules. Mets might suck ass but I need to watch them come summer time. I know I could use a proxy and plug my laptop into my TV but the quality isn't the same.

I got rid of my cable in December, enjoying saving over $100 a month. I have a ton of Blu-rays and regularly watch movies, still have TV series I need to catch up on and I have Amazon Prime so I have streaming options as well. I do miss watching live sports but I'll either stream (unfortunately low quality) or go to a sports bar or friend's house to watch. I do have an antenna though for over the air HD local channels.

Raleigh by way of Crooklyn

I tried NBA League pass broadband this year. The quality was horrific. I don't even know how they released that. The video stayed stuttering and buffering.

I will say though that mlb.tv premium is great. If I had a way to watch my sports strictly through the net (NCAA football and basketball, NFL, NBA, MLB), I'd drop DirecTV like a bad habit.

My NBA was horrible for the 1st part of the season....but it has greatly improved....occasional buffer here and there....I havent had cable more then a year or so....not going back...

saving money is a bad thing? i tell a broad in a minute im #nocablegang

i dont get this whole saving money thing? if your a grown man working everyday 80-100 dollars a month for a must have worthwhile service is hardly wasting money. im paying for a service i want and enjoy.

not having cable is seriously being as cheap as it gets. you most likely have a really nice tv and you refuse to put cable on it? you force yourself to have to run wires from a laptop to it and have to search out free low quality programs that you might not even be able to find at the same time missing out on the 1000 things you can get from cable

it really separates the men from the boys. im actually gonna go as far to say that i dont respect a man without cable and if i walked into a persons house without it i would leave and never return. IMO its worse than someone asking me to take my shoes off before i enter there home because sure as shyt that aint happening

even then its some hack ass shyt. i dont care what anyone says its simply not the same as the real thing.

good luck impressing females with no cable tv. its also twice the effort. im sitting on my couch with the Celtics game on CABLE typing on my laptop as we speak. i have every channel comcast offers you want to know why? because im not cheap and i know what im doing

you cant call yourself a sports fan if you have to catch a stream online. a tv with no cable is basically a dead tv.

im really starting to get annoyed there are people who think having no cable is a good thing i just cant comprehend it

LOL damn Cable brings you what you need, and all, but you sound like you'd seriously lose your mind if you suddenly couldn't watch TV. If it's good for you to have every chan that's cool. Other people don't, and are kinda realizing they only watch the same type of show constantly. So why pay for the fluff of cable, and a bunch of chans you never watch. No need to act like people are poor out here cause they are not paying for cable :childplease:

:what:

Are you high? Anything you can get from cable, someone else can get for free. Same quality, 720p-1080p/i.

Most TVs nowdays are built to internet with PCs. shyt makes cable obsolete.

Some of you dudes are just stuck on some back in the day shyt and totally out of touch with reality. I bet you still rent shyt from Blockbuster Video. You'd probably think torrents are black magic. :heh:

League Pass was only shytty on the 360 app for me.

It streamed without any problems on PC and on my Rokus. The thing is, the pic quality on the Roku is noticeably worse than it is on the 360's app.

After a few updates, the 360 app is much improved and is working without any hiccups for me for the most part.

4G from cell phone providers is starting to penetrate through the country as well. You might be looking at a situation in where you have at least 6 options to get your internet from...:wow2:

In fact when I first started messing around with this idea I was able to watch netflix (Not-HD) without any buffering issues on Sprint's garbage ass 3G network at least 3x a week and they did not say a DAMN THING. I will be on T-Mobile's HSPA+ network fairly soon and I am sure I will be able to watch netflix in HD with no issues. Going with that 10GB - $70 per month no overage package along with my simple mobile $50 unlimited package package and I will be paying about what people some pay just for their cell phone service and no contract.

The only REAL issue I see is with all the gamers in here...I cannot imagine playing online multiplayer this way, but its something that I have never done much...outside of Bad Company.

The cable companies are going to start looking really :flabbynsick: soon

I've played games on my LTE connection just fine when I've needed to. Battlefield 3 and all that.

I'm able to stream HD League Pass games and movies with my LTE connection

:heh:

The first night I caught a signal at my house, I tried it out just to see how stable it was. Ended up streaming up like 4GBs of data in 1 night. Sprint don't give a shyt.

if you live alone and don't have cable and your parents got cable at their home......

that means you can get comcast xfinitytv, time warner cable tv, all the channels through your computer for free. (whatever cable service) i got all the regular channels. plus premium channels and apps like hbo go, showtime, everything for free through my computer. i don't even live with them

i advise some of you to make an free online account for your parents cable provider. you get everything free and don't even live with them :win:

Does this work if they are in a different state?
