Here is my thing latinos needs to address the racism they hurl at afro-latinos. In every country from Chile to Mexico there is a form of white supremacy being practiced. I see potential with alliances with latinos because I grew up in a predominately latino area in Brooklyn. Went to school with them from kindergarten to college. So I know how they are and think. So I dont hate latinos cuz I have dated colombians,ricans and dominicans in the past. have alot of lifelong friendships with them. However the elephant in the room is how afro latino are treated. If you really want to get our trust speak out the racism in Latino nations. In DR there is a minority of people speaking out against racism against black dominicans and haitians living there while the majority is silent. In Mexico they treat afro mexicans like complete crap without bating an eye. And its the same every where else in spanish speaking latin american nations. . Thing is we want action not simple rhetoric. You want to help us get rid of white supremacy here in America fine but also fight it in your homeland. Our permanent interest is to do away with white racism in this country but dont practice white supremacy when you go back to your country for vacation.

Remember white folks fear black and hispanics join forces against them if there was a war. 2pac in his songs always speak of making peace with the black and mexican sets to wage war against police. The reason why black folks are mistrustful is because they see what is going with afro latinos and say "Well why do they need our help when they treat black folks who look like us like shyt in their countries?"

I'm sure every Latin country has less successful but still existing examples. There's movements everywhere. You just haven't heard of them.

Racism is internalized in every colonized culture. It was literally forced upon them by rape and violence. Why blame all Latinos instead of the source, white imperialists?

Hugo Chavez and Fidel has done ALOT for Haiti. I mean ALOT. They were our only ally when the US put embargo on us. Fidel has love for black people and Haitians. Chavez even aknolwedged when Simon Bolivar went to flee to Haiti and got help from Haiti by Alexandre Petion. Chavez even said Latin America owes Haiti a debt of gratitude for helping their fight for independence against Spain. He said it was a shame that these same Latin America countries followed Amerikkka ways to turn their back on Haiti.

And that's the case with a lot of people, especially Mexicans in California. A lot of the ones getting killed by cops are from here and probably know little to nothing about demographics in Mexico.

I do think the latino battle is a separate battle than the black battle. And I think it'd be more effective to have separate movements... each group can show support for the other but the causes are just a bit different. There is no denying that the white majority look at black people as a different kind of threat. You cant have one group latching on to the other, I think it weakens that groups individual movement.
