Can’t go about trying to get a Canelo fight the way Lara did YEARS ago. That Canelo needed something to prove and rebuild himself following that Floyd loss. This Canelo is made. Boo Boo gotta go about it like a fukking professional and businessman. Be willing to do a 90/10 split type shyt. Have your damn locker room in the damn parking lot. Basically give Canelo w/e the fukk he want to make the fight.
Naw, the business stuff doesn’t matter. Canelo only fights people for two reasons now, basically. You either have something he wants (e.g., a belt or you’re a good scalp on the resume), or you’re a mandatory and he wants to keep that belt. He’s going to fight Charlo at some point because he’s a name with some solid wins who will eventually move up to 168. On the flip side Andrade is only a good scalp to us hardcore boxing fans. He should have been carving out a real niche for himself at 160 fighting some real live bodies and he’d get a look; but, he’s been career risk adverse trying to preserve his zero thinking that will do it, and he’s going to cash out and it’s not going to work. He could move to 168 and become a mandatory for one of the belts, but he’s not because he’d lose before he become a mandatory and he knows it, and there goes the Canelo fight. He’s basically stuck. He has to try to get the public to clamor and pressure Canelo into the fight hence the theatrics last night.
It won’t work because Andrade isn’t popular, and two Canelo has too many options below 168 and above to resort to letting Andrade cash out if he doesn’t want to. He could always say he’s fighting Charlo, DB, Bivol, AB, GGG, et al. and the public would be cool with it. There won’t be a collective, “Why not Boo Boo?” Except for 15 people on the internet that have turned Andrade into Hagler lite (RIP) because they want to see Canelo lose, and they think he’ll win (he won’t).
