given the fact it was 2 former PPV Main Eventers in a stipulation match that is almost impossible to screw up, that Cole vs Jericho match has to be in the running for top 3 worst AEW PPV match in company history
It was truly fukking awful. The only good part - other than the match ending that is - was seeing Sabu go thru a table, seeing Jericho get the shyt beat out of him with a kendo stick, and Cole getting the win.

I loved Adam Cole in NXT and ROH but I think in AEW/WWE the lights might just be too bright for him. The only high-quality singles matches he's had since leaving NXT have been two against Hangman and neither one of those were like 5-star level matches by any means. And it hasn't been for lack of other quality opponents as he's faced Jungle Boy (who is capable of good matches like last night showed), Dax, Orange Cassidy, Jay Lethal, Ishii, Christian, Trent, Samoa Joe, and Daniel Garcia. He even managed to have merely an above average match in a three-way with Jay White and Okada.

Vince was right he’s better as a mouthpiece / manager :manny:

Saw a few comments that all said essentially the same thing - the matches between the Battle Royale and the last two matches weren't necessarily bad (other than the unsanctioned match), they just didn't feel like AEW matches.

I don't necessarily think there is an "AEW style" like people say about WWE. I'd say really the only thing that is kind of the calling card throughout AEW matches is that they tend to be faster paced and more frequently feature higher/riskier spots. But you can do that in all sorts of different wrestling styles, it's not exclusive to like lucha libre and what not.

Alas, there were more slower matches with a lot less of those high spots in them than many associate with AEW. So I can see where they are coming from.

Finished watching I’ll say this It was a good show from a wrestling stand point but it didn’t feel like a AEW PPV

The crowd really brought the show down maybe their worst PPV crowd

And also they need to move DON to another city next year I get because of the gambling theme Las Vegas seems like the perfect spot but that doesn’t mean you absolutely have to have it there I mean Summerslam is in Detroit this year

Doing an "unsanctioned match" in the undercard of a show headlined by Anarchy in the Arena is just stupid on so many levels. Either the first match pulls out all sorts of crazy shyt and takes away from the wow factor of the main event, or you get what we saw which was a neutered boring attempt at a street fight.

But props to Jericho for avoiding taking a clean pinfall or submission by booking himself in a match that "doesn't count towards his official AEW record" and doing a finish that made everybody involved look bad and not just him. A true master tactician in every sense.

It completely went over my head that Takeshyta was supposed to be Ibushi 2.0 and that DDT mishandled him so badly that dude had to leave the promotion to finally shine. It's a connection I missed when fantasy booking this Elite vs BCC feud.

The ether Kota could give Konosuke if he ever decided to cut a serious, "shooty" promo would be :picard:
