I guess the biggest thing I want to discuss is Jade. I had been saying for a long time that I wanted to see her as a double champion. Just go ahead and go the Goldberg route and have her mow through everyone.

As we know WCW eventually fukked up the Goldberg streak, I think AEW handled it better for Jade but that's not saying much.

It's a big win for Kris Statlander. It did protect Jade to an extent because it was a random ass match and her second match on the show.

But what I want to know is what's next. Jade needs to be in the world title scene ASAP and beat all those hoes she hasn't faced yet.

And yet, you're trying to pretend that a WOMEN'S MIDCARD match is gonna pop a buyrate or rating...

I can't believe I'm about to say this but...

Stop the cap

This is like saying it wouldn't be a big deal to end Goldberg's streak when he had the US title because he was just a midcarder.

The unbeaten streak is what you use to elevate the talent to the main event. Imagine if Goldberg lost to Perry Saturn at Slamboree :mjlol:

I would have liked Willow to be the one to dethrone her, but I'm happy the belt is off Jade. I forgot Statlander existed, but she is good in ring, so if you to pick another girl on the roster not doing anything major that should be able to shot out with a title I guess she's fine The streak was super nice, but having to protect her against L's really limits the kind of work she can do on tv. Now the doors are open for her to do extended feuds with people and possibly going face and having some programs where she can chase for rematch wins and earn more tractions with the viewers who hate on her cuz they think she's too green.

I would probably run a face turn angle immediately and have her juelz about how Mark freely issued an open challenge after her first match without permission. Then tease the Jaded on Mark and the fans will eat that up cuz everyone hate him. Could also have him recruit a new female to manage and run that feud. But yeah the light at the end of the tunnel here is she can move into the main title picture now, and there are lots of new competitors for sure.

I think you should take into consideration Goldberg had huge buzz with the fans as US champ already, as well as already getting main event placements at that stage. He was marketed and over as the next top guy, period. Jade is great, but she still has alot of things to learn, that is hindering her from gaining that kind of natural crowd support, even as a heel. The streak was a luxury, and if you were going to point out one female with oodles of unrealized potential that you want to establish from day 1, she was the right one to have that run of a streak. But she was never presented as the best female in the company, time's ticking for all the main title picture broads, but someone who is doing so good in the mid-card with very little experience as a wrestler.

You can't just relate those two because they both had forms of undefeated streaks.

How was the show overall?

Cookout and lots of drinking made sure I couldn’t catch any of it last night.
Like I predicted in the who will win the weekend thread, had a low floor but a very high ceiling. The lows were indeed low (in sanctioned match and the marred by Hayer injury women’s title match) and the highs were high to very high, in my opinion (Battle royale, Statlander winning the TBS title, AEW title, anarchy in the arena). Everything else was solid to mediocre.

There was a lot of empty seats last night. Especially one of the floor areas. They eventually filled the floor seats right before the World Title match but there was a big section that was empty for most of the show. Crowd wasn't as into the show as last years show either.

The crowd wanted Jade to lose. My wife and I were the only ones that weren't cheering when Statlander won. They were ready to pop for Taya.

World Title match was the best match for me and the crowd was into that match the most.

Overall it was a good show but definitely the weakest AEW crowd I've been a part of.
