a choke deprives the brain of blood and oxygen. It is designed to incapacitate a person under threat of... death. If held too long... you die.
No one ran down to pull Trent off Cassidy. He just held the choke for a solid minute then stopped.
Funny story you would know nothing about because you've never been a fight before, but if you don't attend to someone choked out after... they also die.
