Fury was using his whole arsenal of using his size, reach, theatrics, starting to bank on the bodywork and uppercuts early on. Looked like he might be able to bully Usyk to a points win. I am still amazed at Fury's stamina for his size, but in round 7 you could see him start to fade, and meanwhile Usyk kept on chugging, always trying to answer and make Fury back up around the ring. And when Fury's clubs and paws started to lose the sting, Usyk was not afraid to lean into 1-2's when Fury was near the ropes and no where to evade them. Fury is a big dude, but not the hardest puncher considering the way he works in his fights. As well as his hands down style so he is able to use his lankiness more is WOAT tradeoff that gets him into trouble lots in his fights. Everything with Usyk is on purpose, he knows when to cover up and just take what's there, he knows when you're open for counters, he knows where you are in the ring, he knows he can punch faster than you. He understands exactly what the gameplan should be to box someone bigger and longer reach than him.
:salute:

I mean you could look at the fight and say Fury made a mistake and got rocked and completely lost his momentum having to recover and fight more gun-shy after. But that was the exact script Usyk had written out before the bell even rang. I'm waiting for you to tire, and when you are not a threat anymore power wise, these openings that have been there all fight long, I'm gonna start abusing them and committing to my offence more.
:demonic:

I had it 114-113 Usyk. I don't really want to see a rematch, it's gonna be the same thing or worse. Fury does not have the punching power to break Usyk down early, and does not have the stamina or defense to avoid Usyk's barrage late in the fight.
:yeshrug:

I mean someone tell me with Fury's toolbox, and how we know he uses that to win his fights, how do you successfully adjust that to Usyk's gameplan?

Also, the Ukraine war comment was weak af, but I ain't gonna drag him too hard if that a one-off comment. Right after the fight where your copes and caps are at full power trying to rationalize to yourself why you not undefeated anymore

It's the pace usyk pushes. It will take even hardened men off their game. He was constantly in his face which may not seem like much but trust me it's no joke. invested to the body early, cut off the ring. We gotta remember fury is 260 which he has good conditioning that weight is hard to ignore. At least AJ had that power to keep usyk somewhat off and usyk was still on him constantly. Fury moved more than he did in a lot of recent fights and got them SpongeBob looking legs tested. Usyk old school
Usyk's pace definitely a factor I agree. I'm just leaning towards Fury allowing Usyk to turn it up instead of pushing for the kill in middle rounds.

Look at those advanced stats on reddit r/boxing front page

You can see that Usyk's combined agression/pressure is at his lowest in 5-6-7 but he starts landing more in round 7.
However Fury peaks at round 5 and starts to slow down after that round. Round 6 is when he's flowing with confidence, stars some bolo punches, finish the round with arms behind his back and flipping his tongue at the bell :dame:

I feel Fury got too comfy after round 5 (his clearest one) and thought he had it in the bag and doing so he allowed Usyk to turn the tide by round 7.

I just rewatched that round and it's the pivot of the fight. It's relatively low activity but Fury is comfortable then but too passive and at the end of it Usyk starts landing and break Fury's momemtum. You can see Fury going back to his corner sensing he lost that round. And round 8 is when Usyk finds success with the cross and pop Fury's nose at the end.

I didn't get to watch this. What's the concensus on Joshua vs Fury now?
Joshua has his fight and Fury has a rematch. Nothing happening. Tbh if Fury loses the rematch I fully expect him to retire. He has been dodging Joshua all his career.

Should have fought him before Ben Davison came on board.

So with his performance tonight, you don't think Fury has a chance against Joshua?

Fury has a chance against anyone. He fought well against Wilder but we shouldn't assume that means he beats Joshua. Wilder has instant KO power with the straight right and the hook, but that is pretty much his game plan. AJ punches through the guard with power with his jab, and has the size and reach to match Fury's length.

I just think it is a style Fury isn't built for.
