This sums up on how RZA and Divine work @ :39

20% cut off the top for Divine

And then u gotta factor in another cut for Rza for royalties

And I'm pretty sure Power gets his too....he gets exec production on all wutang albums

not surprised all the Wu rappers were byatching

They were getting gang raped

I always hear about Divine, but never see the mahfugga. Might as well list "shadowman" as the exec producer. :mjlol:

He is in the clip that was posted in this thread. He's the one talking to Ghost.

They're not really getting raped though. Ghost was a Wu exec, til the beef between the Clan and Mike Caruso. He saw extra money from Wu projects. They also were originally signed to where every member ate of anything Wu related. So even if you didn't have an album out, you were paid because the other brother(s) held you up with their albums, businesses and deals. I think they all had to fork over like 20% of their earnings back to the W, and everyone got paid. U-God got paid for albums he wasn't even on, so did GZA, MK, Deck etc. Except for Wu-Wear - that was ALL Power. I'm not sure if he ever split anything, but he prob did put some money back into W. But no one questions Power at all, and he made as much money off the W as Divine at this point.

Then they all asked to be released from Wu-Tang deal. OK, so now you don't have to put back into the W, your money is yours, but you only see $ off Wu-Tang Clan albums, BUT you also have free use of the W for whatever.

At this point, they have no right to be bitter. You can't say you no longer want to be under it, released free of charge, but you still want to see money that someone else makes off of the W, just because. As for 4th Disciple, how much would he be owed for royalties? For royalties there has to be use of the art that he's worked on. I'm sure his contract for those projects protects RZA, as they always do.

You're not accounting for that 20%, which multiple members claim they paid but never saw where it went or who it went to. We can pretty much assume it went to RZA and Divine.

In terms of 4th...he signed a terrible deal and got fukked. That's the case with most Wu shyt. Ultimately while RZA is a snake...I can't help but feel like the Wu dropped the ball so bad they fukked themselves out of more money than even RZA could steal. They should be doing big festivals yearly. The demand is still there, the checks can still be written...but they can't get along or show up enough to make it work. Then you think about all the tour money members must have wasted in order to be broke today...shyt is just depressing.

RZA is a snake?
:childplease:
Who are you?
You cant put that on him like that.
This is the cost of doing business.
When has RZA not been transparent or consistent when it comes to his side of the story?

You dont know what you're talking about.
The money that came up missing was given to wu-wear (power), allegedly. No disrespect to Power.
But he never came forward to defend himself against these allegations.

These things are hilarious. First, U-God done sued RZA like 4 different times already.

Everyone suspected that the deals that everyone signed in the beginning, would come back as group members grew in stature. He's not gonna win though, but RZA just gonna pay him anyway.

According to the producer, he has been cheated out of millions in royalties since he signed a lopsided agreement with the brothers back in 1993.

"Plaintiff has never received an accounting statement nor any royalties under either the Production Agreement nor the Publishing Agreement, he has no idea what Recordings are
being claimed by Defendants under the Production Agreement nor what Compositions are being claimed under the Publishing Agreement," 4th Disciple claims in his lawsuit.

That right there is gonna be his demise. RZA has those receipts. Why wait 25 years? Anything after he left Wu-productions was probably paid as work for hire n which case, would be his own legal team fault. The most money hungry member Rae has never sued RZA, the most high profile member Meth has never sued RZA. The only case RZA lost was vs Ghost, and to this day, I have no idea how RZA lost that one.
Ghost had a bad ass lawyer on that one and it went on for a while.

I'm just a black dude who worked in the music industry breh. Do I have "inside knowledge" on the Wu? Hell no. But let us consider the facts, which are public. Most of the Wu has had financial problems with RZA. Now I'll defend RZA right quick to a degree: as the dominant producer (and exec producer), RZA was due a cut from every Wu album. So he made money off every album right. But now let's go deeper...did RZA give 20% of his exec producer/producer earnings to the Wu Tang Publishing pool? What about when he was doing soundtracks? So right out the gate there's tension.

Where there's smoke there's fire. You can't have the majority of the group upset about you about money and there NOT be an issue. I get it...dudes wasted their money and are bitter. But that doesn't excuse RZA's behavior.
