You can't compare the size of the truly urbanized Miami areas to that of other big cities in the country, especially New York. On 95 it takes less than ten minutes to drive through Miami north to south. And once you go a couple miles west you're into suburban sprawl. That's what I'm talking about. The area in Miami where the real estate is absurdly expensive is rather concentrated.

Surprised nobody mentioned that house in NY is probably in the depths of the ghetto too. But DC and SF are the same way. Pay $500K-1 mil+ to still live in the hood because it's still in the city limits . For example, in my old hood, you could pay 2 mil to live here:
