I don't think bringing this case to the attention of a Jay-Z (I'd assume he knows of it...since it is BK) or the likes is a bad thing per say...:jbhmm:

But I wouldn't be surprised if this was a case...their handlers, advised them not to touch...:mjpls:

Attractive WW slain by black man in NYC. Probably would tell them...it's too iffy public relations wise...wit the potential to go left if they're wrong. You know they wouldn't put their business interests at risk if it wasnt a slam dunk opportunity...:scusthov:

This story certainly isn't getting the publicity it deserves...but their involvement would immediately change that narrative. A case like this in NYC would entail them putting their money where their mouth is...:mjpls: but I wouldn't put any eggs in that basket and don't trust their integrity that much either.

Wow you really are the bytch people make you out to be :russ: angry for no god damn reason
Low tolerance for dumb shyt and stupidity, if that what it is.. so be it. The fact that you make celebs your master - says more about your lack of manliness and mentality.

And I wasn’t “angry” when you were in my inbox and I was providing you with visiting tourists tips to save you money for your trip to New Jersey and New York. Letting you know what spots to stay and the best hotels. But now that I disagree with you about this subject, you want to act out. Control your own emotions bytch - your type seems to be the segment that has the most of an issue.

The Legal Aid Society will continue representing Chanel Lewis as he appeals his conviction for killing Karina Vetrano while she jogged near her Howard Beach home, a state appellate court determined Friday.

Lewis, 23, was found guilty of first-degree murder at his retrial in April after a Queens jury determined that he strangled Vetrano to death during a random encounter in Spring Creek Park. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility for parole on April 23.

Legal Aid immediately filed a notice of appeal to overturn the decision and send the case back to Queens Supreme Court. The Second Department of the state Appellate Division granted their motion to continue representing Lewis.

The case has generated significant attention and controversy since Lewis’ arrest in February 2017, which only increased after a person claiming to be an NYPD officer familiar with the investigation sent an anonymous letter to the media and defense team in March. The letter, first reported by the Daily News, described racial bias in the initial investigation, including a large-scale DNA dragnet targeting black men in Howard Beach and surrounding neighborhoods.

Critics have also alleged that prosecutors withheld evidence from the defense team and that NYPD detectives and Queens prosecutors coerced confessions from Lewis after his arrest.

“Every aspect of this case – from the police investigation to jury deliberations — was propelled by a desire to convict at all costs in complete disregard Mr. Lewis’s constitutional rights,” said David Loftis, attorney-in-charge at Legal Aid’s Post-Conviction and Forensic Litigation unit. “This included a race-based DNA dragnet that ensnared hundreds of New Yorkers of color; blatant failures to disclose crucial exculpatory evidence implicating alternative suspects; and deliberations during which jurors appeared to have acted improperly in violation of the Court’s instruction. It is our strong belief that the trial court failed to meaningfully consider these issues and we look forward to litigating these and other claims for Mr. Lewis on appeal.”

At least three Democratic candidates for Queens District attorney say they would open an investigation into the case.

The conviction came more than two years after Lewis was arrested for the brutal killing and a day after Queens Supreme Court Justice Michael Aloise denied a defense motion to set aside the verdict based on claims of juror misconduct .

Lewis was arrested in February 2017 after NYPD detectives obtained a DNA sample from him, which matched trace bits of DNA found on the back of Vetrano’s neck and cellphone, as well as in a mixture found on his finger nails. Lewis gave police and prosecutors two videotaped confessions the morning after his arrest.

Prosecutors built their case on the DNA evidence and the confessions. Lewis’ attorneys argued that the DNA could have been introduced to the scene by accidental transfer or that Vetrano may have come in contact with the DNA earlier in the day. They also argued that the confessions were coerced.

Lewis’ first trial ended in a split jury in November 2018.

He addressed the court for the first time during his sentencing hearing.

”I’m sorry for the family, but I didn’t do this,” Lewis said.

Aloise described the shocking nature of the crime while delivering the life sentence.

“A case like this has the effect to shake you,” Aloise said at sentencing before describing how Vetrano was attacked and murdered while jogging in what he called a “random, senseless, horrific crime.”

the thing that always gets me is how you, as a juror, could be PRESSURED into a guilty plea if you don't believe defendant is guilty????

at the end of the day what the fukk can the other jurors do to you?

that's crazy to me that ppl can be that weak.
Most jurors tend to think they absolutely must decide on a verdict in order to go home because the courts don't like hung juries...

The other major problem is, ask 12 random people what they think "not guilty" means and I guarantee you the majority associate it with "innocent" which is wrong...All "not guilty" means is there isn't enough evidence in front of you to conclude beyond a reasonable doubt this individual is "guilty"...So they end up voting "guilty" regardless of the fact they doubt the evidence because they don't believe the individual is "innocent" and think that makes it ok to side with the majority so they can all go home...

In other words, if you don't have a good lawyer who takes the time in his opening statement to explain this to the jurors you are 100% screwed because It's a stupid system that heavily favors the prosecutor...The prosecutor doesn't give a fukk about educating a jury, a dumb jury that just wants to go home is exactly what they want...Jurors who ask questions and take the process seriously make it a lot harder for prosecutors to get that guilty verdict without strong evidence...

Do you realistically think that jurors can’t be tampered with ?? There’s companies that exist simply for the purpose of influencing jury pools and “advising” the jury selection process. No high profile jury is selected by picking names out of a hat . If they did select from Queens- any black jurors; they probably objected to or found cause to eliminate. If they start off with 40 potentials in the borough, 20 whites/20 black they probably eliminated 10 of the black potentials just for having family members or associates with criminal backgrounds, or for dumb shyt - unpaid parking tickets, etc Runaway Juries are not just a myth.

yup breh better read Runaway Jury by James Grisham . the shyt is real .

Word!!!! Yessss!! You get it .... and The Last Juror and The Street Lawyer. Let me find out that you read Grisham’s books too.....
:obama::wow:

I don’t come across many people that do. I think that I have his whole collection since The Firm. There’s a whole process that goes into jury selection that people aren’t aware of- it’s not cut and dry. There’s companies out here that are paid to basically research and manipulate the jury pool.
