Some very interesting tidbits from the WON:

This will become the first pro wrestling event ever held in North America to do a $1 million gate that wasn’t promoted by Vince McMahon. The current record for the largest gate for a North American pro wrestling event not promoted by Vince McMahon is $930,735, for the January 4, 1999, Nitro at the Georgia Dome. While inflation of ticket prices makes comparisons unfair, there is also a gigantic difference in exposure of WCW in 1999, with names like Hulk Hogan, Bill Goldberg and Kevin Nash as the top drawing stars and a show where the only three names advertised are Tetsuya Naito, Kazuchika Okada and Hiroshi Tanahashi.

If it does sell out, and that would appear to be a given at this point, it would be the first pro wrestling show to sell out MSG since an October 3, 2015 show promoted around Brock Lesnar’s return to wrestle in the building. Prior to that, WWE’s last sellout was December 27, 2012, which was a live Raw show.

The most recent show, on 7/7, built around Ronda Rousey’s debut in the building and Undertaker’s first match in MSG in eight years, drew 13,000 fans.

I did not know WWE wasn't selling out MSG consistently, Vince gotta be pissed as fukk at this

What makes this story so big is that most fans who purchased tickets likely did so as much for Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks and Cody as much as the New Japan stars, if not more. But none of the four are currently under contract to either New Japan or ROH by the time of the show.

It doesn’t take much studying of the career of Vince McMahon to know that even though he can’t lose given the economic advantages he has, that in a sense, this has been a double loss. The first loss is when, after successfully blocking the show, Madison Square Garden had to back down to legal threats and give ROH and NJPW the date. The second loss was when tickets were put on sale, and it was clear there was more demand for the show than any WWE show in the world’s most famous arena in a several years. Granted, it has been three years since WWE has put on a major event in the building.

In the end, the win would be getting one or all of the aforementioned names and hold their debuts off until that night, at the head-to-head NXT show, or building to something at WrestleMania
.

Biggest test yet to see if Cokeboy still gives a fukk or if that FOX/Saudi money plus the XFL has him :manny: about this whole thing. OG Vince would go for the jugular.

It's also a test to see if the Young Bucks have a price or not. My guess is Kenny will say no to any offer unless his Golden Lovers angle with Ibushi comes to an end at Wrestle Kingdom. Cody I can totally see going back for the right offer, but for this kind of show, he would be the less impactful of the possible signings.

Still, as ticket sales for the 9/30 (New Japan) show in Long Beach show, this is a very unique and different marketplace than has ever been seen in the U.S., and this is nothing like WWE. It is a traveling crowd that will only go to a few shows a year. The 9/30 show in Long Beach, with tickets going on sale a week before this show, coming the same month as All In, and two weeks after BOLA, has only sold 1,900 tickets for the 4,700-seat Walker Pyramid.

I wonder how worried Meji is about this. They keep striking out with the dates of their "solo" shows and the promotion for them, no one cares about the Long Beach show.

MSG sold out already :wow:

They better not get lazy with the card, those fans paid to see a show that's worth a damn

The business thrives as a whole. I hope they're happy to see this. It's not like they're being at risk of being put out of business.

If you really think Vince is happy about losing even .00001% of his market share, regardless of how good it is for the business, you don't understand Vince.

I mean, why did they try and block the booking in the first place if he thinks the way you seem to think he does?

Oh, I didn't actually mean to say that he's happy; I said I HOPE he's happy and should be.

Thrive together, thrive longer.

I think whether they accept a WWE offer or not would depend on how successful "All In" is.
