3. Rings. Of. Death.

Had 2 360's red ring on me. One was a launch I bought used from gamestop. Said fukk it and bought an elite.

1 month before my warranty expired it died. I was so damned thankful.

Nothing since, and that was 2 years ago now, but I don't play it as often as I used to.

so u mean to tell me the only xbox's that don't have a history of breaking are the slims which dropped like last year or so?


and how exactly do we know those won't eventually break? its too early to call

Original 20 gig finally kicked like a month ago. This is like the 5th time it's broken, but the first time where I don't get a free repair...so it will stay broke.

I'm literally about to get a slim in like 2 days.

My backlog is massive. I won't need to jump into the next generation for a loooooooooong ass time.

I just hope that MSFT doesn't plan on dropping support for the 360 when the new console comes out. I'ma fukking flip out if I can't use this thing for netflix for at least 2 or 3 more years.

Last week my 360 kept turning off and giving me 2 left rings. It wasn't even that hot though. Let it rest for a day, and all is well so far. "knock on wood" Its an old model from 2007 though, a replacement actually. I still gotta buy a slim. They're much better right?

Mine did the same thing, then a week later, it would turn on for 2 seconds then go red light. I took it apart, smothered thermal paste on the heatsinks and gpu, now my xbox runs quiet as a mouse.

Before when i would use my xbox, the shyt was loud as hell and you had to turn the tv up extra loud to hear over it.

If you know how to tear your xbox apart, i'd suggest you reflow it and clean up the heatsink, then put a shytload of thermal paste on the gpu so that way it it makes good contact and not partial contact which will cause the unit to overheat very quickly friends

Why does that amuse you? You do know that both companies need to be viable players to make the industry grow. If their is only one console manufacture, It will be horrible for the publisher and to a greater degree horrible for the gamer. I don't count Nintendo because they are set on being a generation behind with no fukks given.

Elites are just as bad as the old consoles...Don't let MS confuse you. And i had to fix 2 slims so far,both of them has the touch feature.

You will eventually ruin your shyt if u put alot of thermal on it...If you did a proper reflow,then you're good to go. Most nikkas think they watch youtube vidz and get their xbox working and try to pass off like they know what they doing.

I've been playing games, watching movies, netflix on my og 60GB daily for about 5 years now, no problems. if they drop a new PS3 model this holiday I'm gonna cop though. Don't wanna press my luck.

Do not listen to this shyt about the thermal paste. You are not suppose to put more then a thin layer. You will eventually ruin your shyt if u put alot of thermal on it...If you did a proper reflow,then you're good to go. i did the reflow too
but i put a thin layer of paste on my first tear down and it only delayed the red lights by a few seconds. i put a lil more on there and that ho ran better than it did out the box. you could barely even hear it running breh
maybe i was supposed to use longer bolts for the x clamps?

Do you have a rework station or do u use the crappy heat gun? I have a rework station and i also reball xbox's. Once you've done a proper reflow,you dont need an xclamp fix. Matter of fact the bolts are far worse then the actual xclamp microsoft uses...It causes more bending which breaks the solder balls under the gpu...Adding a shyt load of thremal paste does absolutely nothing besides risk fukking up your chip...

yup. I play the xbox so as a customer its fukking retarded how they made them. But as a hustler,i hope the 720 is just as bad so i can continue making money on the side fixing these pieces of shyts.
