3 episodes into season 5 can we finally admit it that Power surpassed The Wire?

power has been better as far as writing this season. 50 demanding he stay on the show forcing writers to work around his refusal to leave made season 4 a bit all over the place and forced a lot in the storyline. this season the writing has been a bit more cohesive an omari hardwick has been acting his ass off, so has naturi naughton

with that said, power is still just not on the level as the wire. it still has a chance to get there as they are introducing political corruption, but they lack a lot of characters to carry that show. the kid who plays tariq, is borderline a horrible actor. 50 is pretty mediocre himself, all the amateurish level acting is bringing the quality of the show down a bit. im not as critical of the show as others, their reasoning is kinda dumb, they want things to develop organically but its tv, no show is that realistic, the wire had a ton of over the top unrealistic scenarios, but they had great acting, great directing, and the dialogue was 2nd to none. if power could introduce better actors and step up the dialogue a bit, i mean its been 5 seasons and the biggest quotable it has is "whatever they say he did, he did that shyt" thats pitiful. when you watch the wire you were astonished at the levels of conversation, wit, psychological gems that were being dropped which led to a lot of wow moments.

power is still a great show imo, its still a step behind the goats though, wire, breaking bad. etc. i would put it on par with shows like sons of anarchy and oz though. its 2nd tier, not top tier, at least not yet

Power killed off some of its best characters in the first 2 seasons.

And they ran off of storylines after that. I stopped watching after they killed Lobos :manny:

The Wire has aged like fine wine as well.
which is another thing that irritates me about power. i know a lot of story lines can be exaggerated , thats just tv, but how they dealt with lobos, then milan, etc the impact of those stories could have been so much bigger, hell legendary , instead they come in, and ghost and tommy pretty much eliminate them with practically no muscle, small efforts etc.

they can take a tip from a show like breaking bad, and how the enemies like gus fringe, and tuko, and the racist groups, were all built up to make an impact on the storyline, placed walt and jesse in very hostile situations and was sold genuinely to the audience. im still baffled at how tommy and ghost roll pretty much alone with no muscle with cartels looking to kill them, but whatever.

the show for a time seemed more invested in making a impact with angela and ghost love story than they did the criminal aspect of the show.

and lets not get started on ghost finger print on the window, that was just ridiculous lazy and amateurish from the writers on power. i mean nobody stood up in the reading room and said "you know we can do this better than that, its looks stupid to have homicide in the apartment after greg gets killed and nobody examine the window when its only 2 ways into a apartment and homicide will always fingerprint the potential entry points of a apartment" smh.

Russo Bros coming for that title
they still use stunt men to do the fighting is what i mean. Bruce isn't having someone doing the choreography for him. but i know exactly who the dude is in the black panther suit it's not Chadwick. it's this guy

To me that illustrates the difference between power and the Wire.
