Based on what. As big as a weight advantage Jan had, Izzy wasn't completely out of this fight. Until he landed the take down in the fourth, it could have easily went either way. Hell if they fight again, and Izzy actually bulks up some, I could see him winning.
Size difference anderson was getting taken down nonstop by chael and he was a natural light heavyweight
Jones would have fought the same fight as izzy
Not saying he beats them but fighting a heavyweight at light heavyweight puts a lot of pressure

But if izzy won this fight we'd be singing a different tune..he's looking for greatness..you win some you lose some. He didn't run from Jan, he stood there and banged with a bigger man.you gotta respect his heart.

He dominates 185 and under, there's nothing wrong with challenging yourself.

I actually gained more respect for izzy in this loss.

Can Jones beat him? Possibly, but Jones is not the same fighter he once was. Rarely anymore flying knees and spinning back fists..he lost to dominic Reyes despite the judges giving him the win..in his prime he would never lose to a dominic reyes.

In Jones prime he beats izzy easily..but this new Jones?

My only issue with him was just him being too wild with his disrespect. Like if Jon wanted both when he was in Izzy's place in Silva's era and after it ended. Couldve did to Silva was Izzy been doing to him, but no, he always showed love and respect. Never tried to tear that man down

Now to this fight..... NO ONE respected Jan and many been thinking he a lame duck champ and just a paper champ since Jon left the division. Other than Joe Rogan no one been respecting him (hence why after the fight he said "he hope he got his respect now") so even if Izzy won.

The reaction wouldve been :yeshrug: cuz people thought he was a bum (even with the power he got)

Now there is nothing wrong with challenging yourself but dont be fake about it. He thought Jan was food. He didnt wanna "challenge himself" when Jon was the champ and he was popping that shyt and Jon said "pull up"

He just aint done enough in his career or division to warrant the way he been carrying himself

Again Woodley broke that shyt down best

I'm surprised that Dana has kept him around. He hated him when he was championship and now that he sucks, Dana has kept him around on PPV none the less
dana does hate him but hes probably fighting for cheap and he needs bodies right now

Jones will also not threaten Izzy with power. Izzy can advance with pressure as well as counter strike and would be looking to keep Jones on his back foot. That being said, the grappling made the difference, and unless Izzy bulked up properly, Jones would hold him down. This was honestly the hardest fight for Izzy at 205 other than Glover (the worst possible matchup).

The result wasn't surprising to me
Jan is not the guy he was when he first got in the UFC. His cardio and take down defense were trash back then. He fixed that and has been a beast past few years

I had the same score as the judges 49-45 with Jan sweeping last 4 rounds and 10-8 5th round.

Still can't believe Petr threw his title away like that. He was well on his way to an easy win.
Sterling has a lot to work on in the rematch. Honestly I think he tires himself out with the take down attempts. He was doing just fine striking, he didn't have to force grappling like that.

Nunes squash was what it was. Anderson is the worst opponent she's fought since like she first got into UFC

And Jones can gloat all he wants but this could be his fate or worse whenever he moves up(I still don’t think he’s fighting ever again)

Maybe but in fairness Izzy be the one stirring the pot.

Hell just even a few days ago in one of Izzy's pressers.... in the middle of discussing this fight.... he decides to just take a shot at Jon out the blue for NO REASON.

Its like "dude why" ?

You got this fight ahead of you and history, why you got Jon on your mind?

I cant even be mad at Jon getting his payback.

Jones does not exchange in the pocket, and is not a good boxer nor a hard hitter. He would likewise fear the power.

He might be hes not getting taking down like that he’s just not Izzy got man handle on those take downs just Jan being bigger so if Jon uses the distance with the leg kicks it’s gonna force Jan to gamble and go for the tale down or come in with the boxing Jan wasn’t afraid to get knocked out by izzy or get taken down Jon can take jan down to and punish him in that art as wel size was the difference tonight and Jon being in his frame is gonna be a even matchup for jan
