I just still don’t have a good sense of what kind of fighter Francis is. Nothing after the first fight has shown any type of change or improvement. Stipe looked mediocre in that DC fight even in victory. He doesn’t have the best chin and could always get caught. But I think he’s still a more complete fighter and if Francis still can’t lead or adapt after the first three minutes Stipe will win again.

Yeah, we've literally only seen Francis keep winning the same way he always has. The only thing we can hope for or assume is that he's made improvements in the gym that he just hasn't had to show yet.

But unless he clips Stipe early, we're probably going to see him get tested again. He's had three or four fights to get right and shore up some weaknesses, but doing it in the gym and in a title fight is two different things. It's definitely a mystery until we see it in action though.

All the pressure is on Francis for this fight. He's up against someone who has already beaten him comfortably, is the champ and has become the consensus greatest heavyweight fighter since they last fought. Not to mention that if he loses, then he would have lost twice to the same guy. At that point, you know that they are simply better than you.

On paper, Stipe should win again, but Francis has that Wilder factor, which is that he makes up for what he lacks in skill with power. But can the power factor be mitigated again a la Fury? That remains to be seen. Comparatively speaking, Ngannou is more skilled than Wilder is. Francis is also tough as nails, and is hard to control, let alone finish.

From a technical standpoint, if he can show good ttd, he puts himself in a good position to win, otherwise it will be a very tough fight for him. The most important skill that will be tested is his cardio. If he doesn't put Stipe away early, then it will also be difficult to keep up with Stipe when the fight gets deep. Francis needs to utilize his kicks and not fall in love with throwing bombs. He has the advantage in every single physical metric, but Stipe is simply the more skilled fighter.

I think if Francis catches Stipe flush early it's lights out. I am going to go with Francis KO/TKO rd 2.

Havnt really followed stipe career like that but that Dc Ko in the first fight showed that he is one of them dudes whose brain goes into reset mode once they get tagged on the button. Might be because of training or genetics but his brain shuts off his body under trauma. Francis doesn't need a flash Ko but needs to tag him either in combos or when he shoots in for the take down.

I dont get how stipe the underdog. Yeah Francis is probably the hardest hitter in mma history but stipe is one of the greatest heavyweights of all time arguably 1A and 1B with fedor and has ways to nullify the power. Francis can win especially if he fights patient and uses those deadly counters but stipe got more ways to win so we'll see

I think stipe got the benefit of catching Francis at the right time. He said he has a different game plan and I think they feel they need a finish in this one because it will be hard to recreate what he did the first time imo.

as someone who wants to bet Francis I worry more about his blanking in the Lewis fight, and think he could give it away if he thinks on the takedown and misses an opportunity.

hope he comes to finish stipe and not to prove he can successfully fight stipes fight.

So basically there's no evidence to suggest that Francis has improved take down defense, or can avoid having his gas tank completed depleted from gettin wrestle-fukked with no means to stand back up until the horn sounds?

Because that's gonna be the same obstacle he'll face if he doesn't k.o. Miocic in the opening few minutes.

for me I like to see that Blaydes and Velasquez never got to his hips. Knocking out wrestlers quickly gets some credit imo. Stipe will give Francis that opportunity again, to fight standing up first. His cardio for a 25 minute losing match was not bad 3 years ago, anything less he would have got finished, that’s more credit for a guy so green back then up to now.
