I can understand the feeling of wanting Garcia and Spence to clean out their own divisions first but.... to me this is a case of damned if you do... damned if you don't.

Haven't some of us here in the past raked GGG over the coals for not jumping up to 168 to meet Andre Ward there?

It smacks of double standard to criticize a fight that both guys are willing to make, when they've both shown the willingness to fight all comers.

Still..... it's a legit point. If Spence wipes the floor with Garcia, he'll get less than 100% credit, just because he's the larger guy. But if Garcia beats Spence, it's an automatic light-year leap into p4p stardom.

Meanwhile, I understand there's good fights for both in their respective divisions.

Golovkin been at 160 his whole career, complained about not being able to get fights, and dominated the competition he beat. Moving up makes more sense for Golovkin's career competitively.

Garcia started at featherweight, and has gone on to capture titles in 4 divisions. He's going up once again to his 5th division to go after perhaps the toughest active champion in the division.

Critiques are valid imo.

it won't and he coulda dared to be great and matched up with Loma

That fight is still there though....:yeshrug:

If he lost to Loma....no way would he get to fight Spence but he if he loses to Spence..it doesn't hurt his chances of still getting a fight with Loma imo.

But it takes the mystique off the Loma win especially if Spence punishes him. Same with Brook vs Spence. The moment Spence beat Brook, it was "yea Spence stopped him, but Brook wasn't the same after the GGG fight because of his eye and having to drop back down to 147"

Brook's loss to GGG never crossed my mind when he fought Spence.

Boxing fans understand the difficulty of going up in weight, especially against an elite opponent who is a natural at that weight.

The Loma fight will still be there and will carry the same weight (no pun intended)

Go up to 147 and get pounded and more than likely stopped then dropping down to 135 against a skilled dude like Loma? Fight won't have the same mystique to it but i'ma watch :russ:

On the brightside for Mikey, Spence being 3 inches taller may effect his patented body work :ld:

That dont even look right breh looks like hes about to beat a small man. What the height and weight differences. I didnt get into boxing until i started muay thai a year ago so i dont know alot about the dudes.

Mikey is 5’6ish, fights primarily at 135 , 140 twice against Adrien Broner and won a 140 pound title against a tough guy In Lipinets. Spence is about 5’9 and a lot of his critics call him a weightbully (fighting much lighter than he should be) . I don’t agree or disagree with that claim but he fights at 147 and is the current “boogeyman” of the division. He’s coming off like 10 straight stoppages. This is Garcia’s first fight at 147 which is crazy to me that he’s moving up and the first guy he is fighting is the most avoided champion in the division.

I just dont see how Mikeys crew could approve this.

From the first to three rds, Spences body work will be relentless. Mikeys a great fighter but i just dont see it.
