Too bad Big had to die. If Big wouldn't have taken a larger role with Mase in his prime.

This could have been a shiny suit Hitman produced Bad Boy version of 2001. Big, Mase, Kiss, Black Rob and the rest of the roster without the sadness of No Way Out

25 years, felt like yesterday. The summer of 97. The original title was "Hell up in Harlem" but after Big's death that changed it to "No Way Out". I still enjoy listening to this album. Puffy's delivery was average but the ghostwriters did their job for him. Every single was a hit song, every single one. But yes "Missing You" blew up the biggest. But the album cuts were bangers too.

The production, features and samples were crazy. "Victory" still hits so hard it could have been on "LAD". This album and "LAD" shut 97 down on the charts. I still wish Big had a verse on "Can't nobody hold me down" (He was in the video) and "Been around the world" Though he killed the hook. Puffy put the Title Track on the "Money Talks" Soundtrack:

"No Way Out" featuring Black Rob and Kelly Price

This was my joint that was an album cut. Could have seen Big on this especially with the storytelling (Kim actually help to write this).

They said BIG did Benjamin’s and victory the night or two before he died :to:

Great album. Say what you want and I don’t even like Puff like that but he saved hip hop. I remember when rap was gonna be done after biggie got killed after Pac. Puffy becoming a hip hop ‘celebrity’ at that time and getting people dancing again saved the genre

I remember someone on another hip hop forum credited this album with creating the "Mainstream vs. Underground" divide in hip hop.

Either way, this is a good album with catchy songs, amazing features, and passable sounding raps from Diddy.

It also helped Mase blow up.

Diddy screaming "what Ima do now? HUH!? :damn:

what Ima do now!?:mjcry: "

after hearing biggie drop what, IMO is the greatest verse in rap history.... but it was only him showing us untapped potential

Twista and the "he signed to a MAJOR, but who!!?!!??" moment in his career

The Lox beasting but Mase getting the looks

Black Rob dropping (sadly) one of the lines he's remembered by (ran out of ammo and started throwing bottles)

honestly it might have.

before Diddy, the terms were "crossover" and "sellout"
