EW ran an article about this the other day and just seeing it all laid out in black and white was crazy.

In one year he had three 100 million dollar movies: Ace Ventura in February, the mask in July, dumb and dumber in December. And he was nominated for a golden globe for his work in the mask. And each movie grossed more than the one before it.

The dude ran the year. Had a hit movie in the winter/spring, then the summer, then the fall/winter. That’s crazy. To say nothing of the fact these were all comedies. They weren’t based in an existing IP. And he was just “the white guy from in living color. Fire marshal bill.” And he used that one year to become one of the biggest stars on the planet.

Nobody, not even his friends from in living color, thought ace would be a hit.
