The first father-son tandem in Major League history had been teammates for almost a month when, on Sept. 14, 1990, they did something extraordinary.
After Harold Reynolds started the Mariners' game against the Angels at Anaheim Stadium with a walk, Ken Griffey Sr. followed with a home run to left-center field against right-hander Kirk McCaskill.

Ken Griffey Jr., the No. 3 hitter, was at home plate to greet his dad and Reynolds after the home run. Junior then stepped into the batter's box and sent a 3-and-0 pitch to almost the exact same spot in left-center field -- making the Griffeys the first father and son to hit home runs in the same game.

That was my idol.

I was only three when this happened but my dad was a big Griffey Stan so I watched a lot of games on vhs.

In this era he is the goat to me because he never cheated and had a legit shot to break the record
