I understand there are seasonal industries and ebbs and flows, where certain jobs are more plentiful, or not, depending on the month --- but we're talking about "seasonal" to the point where traditional spikes across the board, and employment sectors, are considered a noticeable, and consistent economic phenomena. Feb is not that month, and has never proven to be that as far as I know.

I know. Other than what I mentioned, January through March isn't normally the time I associate with seasonal employment. Most employers let go of seasonal staff and make cutbacks in January after the holidays.

I like how they casually mention this in the article when its probably a MAJOR point of the article
The report did come with plenty of caveats. January job growth was revised down sharply, from 157,000 to 119,000 jobs. And the unemployment rate fell in large part because the labor force shrank by 130,000 workers. Labor-force participation has never recovered from the recession, suggesting either that large numbers of workers have retired early -- or have simply given up trying to find jobs.

The Job Participation dropped by .1%

2013 63.6 63.5

While unemployment rate only felt 2%

Its a VERY VERY slight increase but we had 130,000 people who could not find work and stopped receiving unemployment and therefore no longer counted

Wasnt someone just talking about how Costco lays people off over the winter and hires them back for the spring?

And they revised the Jan report for damn near 75% of what it was. I'm gonna wait for the Feb "revision" before I form an opinion on this. BLS plays too damn much.

The funniest thing about these reactions: Republicans would be jumping for joy and gloating if this report came in with Romney as president.
Fox headline would've been "Romney effect: Jobs are back!" :pachaha:

i'm sure alot of these jobs are like 20 hours a week minimum wage type shyt. Not a job that you can actually survive off of. I don't really trust any numbers (or anything else) that the feds report. The unemployment rate is probably closer to double the number they give out.
