Why can't we admit MMA fighters would get slept in a standup fight and in a street fight most boxers would get worked?

Uhm, I think you got things backwards. The fight was originally supposed to be a work, until Ali saw that he was scheduled to job to Inoki so he actually came in there fighting for real. It's not that he wasn't trying to hurt Inoki, its that he couldn't because Inoki was taking the fight to him in a way he couldn't deal with. One of the biggest original hubs for MMA was Vale Tudo(No Holds Barred fighting) in Mexico/South America. Why else do you think one of MMA's very own forefathers Marco Ruas was nicknamed "King of the Streets"? You're talking about a culture of which one of the biggest parts were impoverished people fighting underground for cash with no rules. You have no fukking idea what you're talking about.

Aldo losing to McGregor doesn't prove anything other than once again, anything is possible. Aldo made a split second mistake out of anger and it cost him, he still landed on Conor even being hit while being sloppy, if Conor didn't land flush it would've been a wrap for him. 13 secs isn't enough to tell anything, we'll see for sure in the rematch....until then...
As far as Wilder beating an MMA champion in his gym, let's see the proof, and also sparring in a gym is not the same as a street fight, at all. Not only that, they were probably just boxing and not MMA rules cuz if it were MMA rules, shyt wouldn't be fair to Wilder at all
You're trying to make this a boxing vs wrestling thread, it really isn't, it's about whether or not Jon Jones could beat a prime Ali in a street fight. Keep throwing irrelevant strawmen though. I'm saying with them knowing what they know as individuals and their respective skill levels, Jon would have the advantage in a street fight. Someone like Mike Tyson, however, would be more of a problem because he's a well known street fighter. He was knocking out ppl in the streets before he even started training. Street fights aren't just about athletic ability and skill, it's also about killer instinct. Many athletes have gotten that work in the streets cuz they're out of their element and simply dont have the mindset to deal with such a chaotic situation. There's a difference between a controlled/competitive environment with gloves, mouthpiece, sometimes headgear, rules and shyt......and a random anything goes brawl on the street. Just cuz you compete in combat sports doesn't necessarily mean you'll be built for it. Tito Ortiz caught an asswhooping from a smaller, striking based fighter in Lee Murray in a back alley.
