I was being facetious with the gazillion comment b/c in light of how men always trash marriage (i.e. #gmb), ironically they are more likely than women to wanna do it again even after the first one didn’t work.
As for the gap, it’s only narrowing because of a couple of social changes.
A.) Less men are remarrying
and
B.) Stigma for women who are interested in getting remarried has lessened culturally over time. It used to be a huge issue culturally for a woman to even think of having another man or even divorcing.
But regardless of these factors contributing to the narrowing of the gap, it still remains. And sociologists assert that the consistent pattern of men not only being more likely to remarry, but also remarrying faster than women is interesting, especially since culturally men are thought to be reluctant about commitment.
One would think that as caustic as men are culturally to the “ball and chain” or the #GMB crew, this gap wouldn’t exist at all. Men will have to answer those mysteries for themselves.
For women, however, a number of studies have illustrated why women are more reticent and certainly cautious about remarrying, and that’s based on some of the points I hit on in earlier posts.
Specifically, things they may have sacrificed in marriage that is linked to unhealthy gendered expectations in traditional marriage. (I.e. infidelity, household work, lack of personal freedom/identity, emotional burnout).
Women More Likely to Say “No Thanks” When it Comes to Remarriage
Several other studies have also demonstrated the differences in health benefits for men vs. women in marriage as well with the latter group not benefitting as much.

My major take away from all this information is that as a female,
when I hear men and society trying to pressure women into marriage with shame and fear, it’s stupid and a useless endeavor. Also trying to demonize women for enjoying periods in their lives when they are genuinely happy being single is also ridiculous. Instead of listening to that nonsense, women should take their time, and figure themselves out and analyze the pros and cons, instead of listening to the Coli crew tell them they bitter, ugly, nasty, lonely if they currently enjoying the single life. Because as illustrated above, marriage necessarily isn’t casually related to happiness or even healthiness for women. And in a lot of cases it can be detrimental if not carefully considered.
Caution aside, however, I’m actually quite optimistic about the institution and think a good marriage can be great for women. But I just don’t romanticize it’s effects on women and won’t lie and act like women can’t enjoy their lives without it.
