Why should families get preferential treatment any more than they already do? Pad the UI bonus in case one of the parents or both lost their jobs and cut a stimulus check. Both of those things address people losing income without excluding people redacted. Parents already got credits for kids in previous checks.

Also, children are far more vulnerable to poverty than adults are (disruptions to their education, disruptions to their health, disruptions to their housing, and antisocial behavior by their parents all are more likely to have long-lasting negative physical and psychological effects). As a result, welfare programs are always slanted towards ensuring that children's welfare is okay.
