This was from a few years ago. Relevant to tonight's game with all the stoppages
Silver, speaking to ESPN's Andscape, said Paul recently pointed out to him all of the pregame and halftime distractions of the All-Star Game that interfere with the players' normal game-day routines.
As Paul put it, according to Silver: "You guys tell us how important the All-Star Game is but then you change all our pregame protocols so that we don't go through our typical routines as we would before a game because you have these elaborate introductions. No complaint about the introductions. We understand why you do it, but then you expect us then to go out and be in the mindset that we're playing a typical basketball game."
Silver said Paul also cited the extended halftime, which is several minutes longer than usual to account for game entertainment.
"So that's why I say, I'll take responsibility for that," Silver told Andscape. "We're sending mixed signals. And if we want guys to treat this like a real game, and again, this is not about Finals intensity, it's just a fun game. But if we want players to treat it that way, we have to treat it that way. And so, it means that the introduction is going to have to be a little bit shorter and halftime's going to have to be a little bit more typical, starting in Indianapolis."

I always said this too, it wouldn't even really work because you'd have to reach for guys who might not have even made it otherwise but did because they fit the "World" bill. You shouldn't make it over an American player just because of a format, that's stupid. It should be based on merit.

They should bin the all-star games, imo
Get rid of it and just have 3-on-3, half-court. Players are not obligated to participate but give the winners a $5 million prize. Not all stars, but teams of three of your people, and just put that up.
It would be more competitive and fun than these games.
All-Star games are for a different era of sports viewing. When you couldn’t watch a Utah Jazz/Orlando Magic/New Orleans Pelican/Denver Nuggets game, that team had a star player who would get featured in this contest. With the internet, we can see everyone’s highlights, and with the stats, we can see if they are good. Just have a fun tournament and let people who are friends play to ten. The women got it right with that Unrivaled League.

NBC, there won't be so much filler at least next year since they'd just take the game off the air to replay Winter Olympics.
Since it's in LA though, that game's gonna start at 2-2:30 local time, which is gonna be different.

Make the all star game a milly each for the winners and 25k for the losers

people gonna forget about Unrivaled, it just looked like somemore mid basketball, though I do admit they have great pace, honestly I think the all-star game should stay, all they have to do is just play street ball, have the refs hardly call anything so they can do more tricks and call it a day its really simple af,
