I'm afraid of self driving vehicles. What if they malfunction, and crash, and kill people? How do they work during rush hour, and change lanes?
Also imagine how inventive thieves will be? just put some spikes on the ground and make the truck crash and you can steal everything inside. I suppose drivers will be made obsolete but security will have to increase.

I think this way about flying cars too. If cars can fly, then tax dollars have to go into flying police cars. What if the car runs out of gas? It falls from the sky. What if folks are dropping cigarettes and shyt out the windows of flying cars? What happens if they crash? All the debris falls in your backyard, or on the freeway, and causes more accidents. What about terrorists? What's stopping terrorists from planting bombs in automated or flying cars?

The National Weather Service is replacing Alaska jobs with automated stations

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration is replacing human operators with million-dollar Finland-made machines at weather stations around Alaska.

The National Weather Service said it will eventually save money and argues that no employees will be lost. Employee advocates say the technology misses out on key human observations that are important to national weather forecasting and Alaskan flight planning, and that the administration is being disingenuous about the jobs they are taking away from Alaskans.

The National Weather Service plans to install the Finnish "Autosonde" stations to release weather balloons and collect data, beginning in the Southeast community of Annette next month, and ending with eight communities later in Nome, in August 2019. Each costs roughly $1.2 million to install.

Traditionally, weather balloons have been launched by humans from the rural and sometimes remote weather stations manned 24 hours, seven days a week by three staffers each.

lol. first off People drivers malfunction every single day. Do you want me to hit you with the stats of how many car crashes happen everyday worldwide? US wide? do you want the stats of how many cars hit pedestrians? do you need the stats to show you how many people are involved in fatal car accidents? Do you just want to see the drunk driving data and the distracted driving data(texting while driving, reading your phone, turning around playing with, yelling at your kids in the back seat)?

People are horrible drives already on their own. young, young adults, middle age, seniors. doesnt matter. bad drivers.

The worry isnt about AI driving cars harming people. It's about people intentionally trying to mess with the AI driven cars before the entire road becomes 100% AI driven cars. because thats the moment when a lot of these accidents will come to an end.

The inbetween time before its 100% AI drivers and no more humans driving is going to be a bit tough. but even then, AI drivers are much better than humans for the most part. that doesnt mean someone wont get hit still. it means if you do the math the amt of people getting hit will be drastically decreased. there will be no such thing as drunk driving. you can drink yourself under the bar and hop in YOUR car and let the AI driver get you to the house. You can text while RIDING all you want. There will be no more truckers falling asleep on the I-whatever and flipping over a truck full of gas killing himself and others on the FWY.

sure some hackers could possible hack into the systems. but thats apart of it, that will have to be dealt with where that becomes a very small chance. you know hackers can hack into cars right now and have all sorts of things going on with your ride.

and one last thing. you said what about rush hour traffic? Truth is, the people with the desk jobs dont need to GO to work anyway. we do our work on a computer, we email to speak with people, or use some form of instant messaging. There is no reason to be AT work. you can meet via Skype for business and a ton of other software/phone setups. Right now there is no actual need to GO TO work. You take all of us white color workers off the grid. do you know how little traffic there will be? do you know how better the environment would be without us being on the roads?

that automation is upon us. aint no reason in fighting it. Let's just be honest about what that means for the rest of us. and sorry, NO job is SAFE. NON. there some jobs are safe FOR NOW and thats about all we can offer you...for Now. lol. Since we know it is...what it is... it's time to figure out what will become of income when no one is earning it via work? or where 80% of the population no longer has to work in order for business to make money and for things to run properly? everyone can't become homeless that wont work. so what do you do? Free Housing, medical, Food, some entertainment.

:mjlol: white ppl don't even respect medicaid, but yeah they'll vote for basic income
true true. but then you have to get them to understand this is the actual truth not the truth of wont you get lazy if you dont work even though at that point working for most people whites included wont be an option.

“When people stop working out of fear, they become more productive,”

What If You Didn't Have to Work for Money?

^excellent very long article breaking down a lot of questions about having a basic income. and with some answers to said questions.

Those skeptical of basic income might ask: If you give people enough to live on, won’t they stop working? Won’t they get lazy? Evidence from pilot studies by Guy Standing, a professor of development studies at the University of London and a co-founder of the Basic Income Earth Network, points the other way.“When people stop working out of fear, they become more productive,” Standing says.

sure they do, they just can't say so publicly. just like every other "gubmit" program.

at the end of the day, the difference is that medicaid/social security etc appear to us as deliberate/voluntary choices that were made by our government.

basic income will come about because there will be no other choice/option - it will be forced upon us by technological advances and its effect on the workforce/economy.

this is ridiculous. first of all no technology cannot replace every job. we are hundreds if not thousands of years away from that.

second, if technology ever gets to the point where every job is considered useless... then it has likely also evolved to the point where everyone would have access to basic resources. if technology made food, shelter and water infinite and in abundance for all... no one would have to work out of necessity in the first place.

but in 2018 if your job can be done by a robot, your job probably isn't that important in the first place and you should be looking for other ways to better yourself economically.
