Honestly I feel good about my general view that this has been a +2 or +3 Kamala race for quite some time. Pundits will grasp on the "island of garbage" thing, among other comments, but I don't think this race has changed much. I think normal voters simply kept observing until they realized no, Trump has not changed and is the same disease he's always been. And Harris has spent the last month being normal, appealing to as many normies as possible. All the people who complained about the republican outreach were wrong. This is how you win. It's that simple.
I can't speak for every critique of the Republican outreach, but I have been one of the most vocal critics of Harris' decision to make normalization of non-MAGA Republicans a central tenet of her campaign, and my criticisms haven't been based on the electoral validity of the move, they've been based on the ramifications on our political landscape. The vast majority of analysis in this thread treats elections like the end of the path instead of inflection points along the path. Anything to win an election, consequences be damned. Like, most people in this thread would be woefully incapable of critiquing the Third Way triangulation of the 90s Clinton campaigns and the ensuing social harm because "...well he won, didn't he?"

A lot of leftists are not concerned with winning elections, we've seen many examples of this in this thread.
I think it's more that most leftists are concerned with actual governing, ideology and the structural forces that shape our lives and society as opposed to the general public just being obsessed primarily with the electoral spectacle. Winning elections is the only thing that matters to the average Lib voter, they check out and go to brunch once their guy/gal wins.

This is the tenor of concern I'm seeing from a lot of leftist in this environment where Kamala is likely to win, and mirrors my feelings on this election:

Spot on as usual :salute:

I don’t know which will be more fun. shytting on MAGA or shytting on the contrarians who were softly wishing upon a star for Kamala to lose so they could be right on the internet and moral grandstand

Of course the ATL
For those who remember 2016, what were the telltale signs that he was winning pre Election Day? :francis: I really gotta brace myself for this

The energy was never right…I think we were riding off the wave of 8 years of Obama, thinking things would just continue vs a low life, vulgar, petty Trump and I think alotta people, pollsters too, didn’t realize that people wanted a change and even tho people were ashamed to say they were for Trump, people liked Trump waaaaaay more than Hilary. Hilary was a deeply unlikable candidate who didn’t run a good campaign. Trump didn’t run a great campaign either but he ran on change and had a movement and people were willing to give him a chance

It doesn’t feel the same but we won’t know until the polls close this time tomorrow.

Which website are you referring to? A lot of the lines start 50/50 then volume comes in and changes the odds
On getting the republican nomination, Betfair had him as underdog vs Biden on their opening lines. Obviously over time that has flipped

:skip: is this staged?

don't pull up to my crib 40 secret service agents at my door.

I used to be a mail carrier and there's some wild folk out there.

I had one apartment on my route in particular that had 3 bad strippers in there, but then also a gay cat. They all used to open the door in just underwear or lingerie :dame: russian roulette everytime i had to knock

It’s annoying but we just have to realize some people would rather sow chaos or complain so the rest of us have to do the heavy lifting to give them the freedom to sow chaos and complain
